for those who have formatted i6000...

hey guys,

i just formatted my i6000, i downloaded all the drivers off of dell's website and installed them. i must say, notebook is running like twice as fast after dumpin' all that Dell crap. So i go into Device Manager to make sure all the drivers installed ok, and for some reason under "Other devices" PCI Device still has a exclamation mark next to it. What is this PCI Device, is it the SD card reader? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I would assume its the SD card reader...

Did you get the x300 with your 6000?

na, wanted ta save on battery life, and also heard X300 wasn't that good. but i'm sure this 533FSB 1gig dual channel baby will do some gaming, hahaha, lemme figure out this PCI Device thingy first, it's driving me nutz!!! i hate having question marks or exclamation marks in Device Manager. Where can i find the SD card reader, i checked the website, found nothing releated SD card reader for i6000. I remember when i had the 700m there was def. a SD card reader driver online, see if that'll work.

after all that is taken care of, i'll install The Punisher, or Call of Duty and see if it runs. Ahhh... what the heck, i'll try out Far Cry, HAHAHAHHA

SD Reader? Call Dell Technical and ask them. I won't hurt even if you tell them you reformatted your system.

It could be your sound card.. First see if you get any sound.. or the volume icon

yea, there's a SD card reader on the right side of the 6000. I tried installing the SD reader driver for the 700m, that's a NO GO. So yea, still have no idea what this PCI device is suppose to be, all i know is that it's not working properly, but i've already installed my chipset drivers, twice, once right after i formatted, another time just cause' that's what i read ta do on dell forum from the tech. support. I guess i'll just call in.

have you installed the drivers for your wireless already? the wireless adapter is a mini-PCI adapter itself.

The driver cd has checks beside the equipment you have. Go through the list, see the ones with checks, and install the sd reader.

If the sd reader isn't on the driver cd. It has it's own cd.

If not. Go through the applications cd, and look there.

It should ? How is "Paint Shop™ Pro® Studio trial, Photo Album™ Starter Edition", and the other application software reinstalled without the Application cd ?

I had the same problem. I fixed it by installing SD driver of I9200 which you can find I9200 support page.

srhye,

which problem were you having? the exclamation mark next to PCI device in device manager? so you downloaded SD card reader driver for 9200 and the exclamation mark went away? I tried the 700m's SD card reader driver and that didn't work. Lemme try the 9200's SD card reader driver.

exclamation mark next to PCI device in device manager is GONE!!!
hahaha, dunno why i'm so happy.

ok, so the only driver i did not install was the touchpad driver. Figured i'd give that a try. So for some reason, after installing the touchpad driver, the exclamation mark next to PCI device in device manager went away, and also the SD card reader is now working. So weird. How is the driver for the SD card reader in the touchpad driver. Another question, is the touchpad a PCI device?

anyway, everything in device manager is A-OK now. thanks guys!!!
