another red one!
i like to see that debranded ferrari 4000.
but past shows that is not gonna happen. there were never "non ferrari" 3x00 equivalents

I think the carbon fiber w/ red trim is infinitely better than the solid red from before. All I've seen is the pic on that link - is the top cover the only black and the rest red or is it black w/ red trim all over?
Hm... interesting. I'm still undecided about the black carb onfiber and red. I would have prefered a solid black. Ah well. I'll wait for the specs before i start to celebrate.
i'll be dissapointed if its basically the same as the aspire 5024 with the stupid red carbon fiber, as well as with a $2500 price.
i think they should realease a x800 for it =)
Aspire 5024 = 10 available in stock -------------in Germany
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...sPageName=WDVW

Spec is much better than 5000 series

That Ferrari laptop is really cool. Hopefully it will have all the good stuff like good resolution, lightweight and a powerfull processor.

From what I read, the HP/Compaq S939 laptops do like 3 to 4 hours, Acer and other manufacturers should give the S939 a chance, it will be more upgradeable in the future.

You would try Athlon64 X2s, wouldn't you?

Dodgy AMD Bar Graphs

I don't like the way AMD represent the Turions against the Pentium M's in a bar graph, they must think we are all stupid! Showing the bar graph from 70% onwards is a deliberate attempt to mislead their potential customers.

By showing a Pentium at 100% and a Turion at 110%, they are giving a misleading visual impression of a 25% performance gain. If their architecture is good enough, there is no need for this cheap shot....

I am the happy owner of a Ferrari 3200, which I bought as the result of research and an informed decision. I certainly don't wish to be 'hoodwinked' into future purchases, by any company.
Oohhhh carbon fiber. I'm scared to see how much this thing's going to cost! Also it looks like they went to widescreen, and if that desktop image is a screenshot from the Ferrari 4000 it must be WSXGA at least. It's going to use a Turion MT, right?
In the acer forum, somebody said that the specs were going to be:

Turion ML-37
1gb pc 3200 ddr
128mb x700
at least sxga+ (I think)

That seems like a pretty sweet setup to me
post #214 of 334
it will be a widescreen not a sxga+

mebbe a wsxga+ atleast

AMD Turion uses different kinds of transistors
Quote:
AMD has gone some way to answering a question quite a few of us have asked for months. Just what is the difference between the notebook Turion chips, Athlon 64s and Opterons.

At a presentation here at Gartner's System Builder Summit, Dave Everitt, European product manager for AMD, said transistors for the Turion are differently binned.

He said: "We've modified the transistors so they are cooler and added an additional C3 state to bring the power levels down."

I've held off mentioning the Tulip E-Go, because, well, it's a girly-man's computer

...but anyway, here's a version of it that everyone might find interesting:

http://www.tulip-ego.com/main2.html

Quote:
Tulip E-Go Diamond

Tulip E-Go notebook inlaid with solid palladium white gold plates in which thousands of brilliant cut diamonds have been set. The quality is V.V.S. top-Wesselton and the total weight is 80.00 Crt.

The brilliant cut diamonds are microscopic and pave set with surgical precision. This magnificent end result is possible thanks to the use of brilliant cut diamonds with a large variety of diameters.

A unique square cut ruby has been set in both Tulip logos.

For the Tulip E-Go diamond project, Marcel van Galen Design worked closely together with Design Department product engineering and Laurent de Beer Master Jewelry Designer.

Consumer price € 283,000
That's currently over $350,000 U.S.!!!

Edit: upon looking at the specs of the E-Go line, this might actually be the best Turion notebook we've seen so far...
Haha, Plagelochard you might be right. Hopefully we will see some day one of the Arimas or the Acer Ferrari 4000

oops, I had forgotten about the new Ferrari, that one does kick ass...everyone please help me out in that if you see a Turion notebook that's not mentioned in the thread (specifically in the first post) then make a post about it and I'll add it in, thanks...
Well, there's the TravelMate 4400, that I mentioned earlier. Non widescreen (XGA) with the X700. It started to appear in some shops in France (?)
