I just got off the phone after another plesent experience with Dell. I guess I've been lucky that I've always dealt with Small Business and have never had a problem. I've bought several desktops, notebooks, and small electronics from Dell and have always had nothing but positive experiences.

Today I was able to call up and change the configuration of an online order that had limited upgrade options because of a special deal. The rep was plesent and changed my order without any questions. The new order maintained my rebate from the original order. As long as it shows up as configured, I couldn't be happier.

I have one brother-in-law who will never buy a Sony laptop, and another who will never buy Compaq. I think all manufactures have their problems.

I have read other users stories, and agree that the offshore support has to be hurting Dell. A lot of people will not be repeat customers based on there experiences. Fortunately for me, I'm not one of them, and I will continue to buy and recommend Dell.

I think Doom3Groupie is pissed that Alienware is being outdone for at least a little while by the Dell XPS2 and is here to flame. Just speculation though...

Not according to this:

I'm trying to see what his angle is if there is one? First he says Alienwares are overpriced and Dells are better. Then he comes back to say that Dell's support isn't up to par by by listing all these consumer affair websites.

Are you easily swayed by these consumer websites or are you just confused?

What's next? A "If you're thinking about buying a Sager" thread?

Follow the golden rule guys "You get what you pay for."

What did you expect from laptops under 1K?

mich43l I can't agree with you more. I work in the Telecom field and here it all the time from customers. When more then 5 million people have purchased the same piece of equipment your bound to have more returns or complaints!!! As far as the being able to bargain and get a better price I am all for it. Like I always say it never hurts to ask, and if you get no the first time then ask for it again!!!!

I fail to see how doing some research on various companies and products before spending vast amounts of my hard earned cash on a next gen machine makes me a troll. However,if it does then you bet ...I'm a troll.

I hated Dell for awhile...I sold a desktop and transferred the warranty and the new guy had a hard drive fail. Dell billed MY credit card until the old hard drive was returned. Then I bought a 400sc server and (tried) to replace the cpu and bent the pins. They replaced it free the next day. Free.
Since then I have purchased @10 more for family/friends/clients and have an 8600 for $680 and a 700m for $900 for myself. Getting ready to order a gaming desktop and an entry level desktop as well. Can't find any other company to even consider as far as desktops. Laptops are a different story but bang for the buck, nobody gets close to Dell.
I hate all foreign based help centers...none are worse than the rest, believe me. Just try Symantec sometime if you want to have some fun.

If you guys want to truely understand the extent to which it is possible to hate a computer company go buy a Toshiba 6100.
