Laptop won't boot to CD or floppy

Thread Starter
I have a hypersonic GX6(Clevo D500) with an ATI 9700 with a Phoenix BIOS. It won't play DVDs because of a problem between ATI and the BIOS so I am updating the BIOS.

The BIOS files came from Hypersonic in a zip file.

I made a bootable CD with the BIOS flashing files and set the CMOS boot sequence to CD first. It booted straight to Windows.

I then made a bootable floppy(usb floppy drive) and added the BIOS files to it. Changed the CMOS sequence to removable devices first. It booted straight to Windows.

The light on the drive does come on, so it is accessing the drive.

I also used a bootdisk from bootdisk.com with the same result.

It's the not the disks because using the same usb floppy drive and disk, it will boot to the foppy drive on my roommate’s Emachines laptop.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanx,
Craig

there are a cupple things you can do to fix all the problems. frist if you can get into the BIOS then just reset the defaults and most of the time that will fix problems with BIOS windows conflicts. if that dosnt works if you can find the BIOS battery take out the battery and use like a pair of pliers and short the 2 leads from the battery and reinsert the battery. shorting the leads will discharge the electricty in the chips on the board.

the reason i think that is wont boot from CD is that you didnt set the correct files in the boot record and why it wont boot from Floppy is because you BIOS dosnt suppot USB and or dosnt have the correct drivers for the drive or the chip on the board.

Hope this helps
