Jeebus that really sucks. If it was just one time she phoned and they wouldnt do anything about it, I'd say whatever, its just a random occurence with Dell. But the number of times she called Dell... man. That is very, very, poor show. Tsk tsk Dell.

Man I feel sorry for her, I know exactly how she feels trying to find a competent rep to speak to. Wasnt that bad for me though, I got my $400 rebate from Dell in about a month.

i wouldn't have gone thru all that crap, i woulda just ordered another pc off the website with the correct name, they can't charge her because there is no karen stevens, who cares about changing the name, just get a whole new account cuz the old one obviously was created wrong. after the 2nd day iwoulda just bought a new pc elsewhere screw dell. she said she never paid, and i think she obviosly used a credit card, i woulda told the credit card company to deny charges made by dell if any.
I agree, once they got my name wrong I would have refused the shipment and re-ordered until they got my name right.

im suprised there arn't more stories like this... not just with dell... but ive had the same runaround dealing with a warrenty through HP

I've been through heck with Dell as well. I blew the power supply, under warranty. I called Dell, after 15 minutes of getting through menus, I told the rep that I blew the power supply. After over an HOUR of running non-diagnostics and stupid questions, the rep said "it looks like you blew your power supply".

I agree 100% with her. If Dell was the only company on Earth making computers, I'd rather buy a type writer...

It's funny (in a tragic sort of way) but seriously, if she refuses shipment, and reorders, her problem is solved, no? Even if it's too late and she accepted the package, she can return it within 21 days for a full refund to her card, and again, reorder.

If there's a problem with her credit card being charged twice, she can always deal solely with her credit card company, which will save her hours of Dell Hell.

Did you guys all read that other nightmare Dell story? The Motherboard Chronicles.

Long story short the guy gets his laptop very late and goes through 5 motherboards in around a year. Ends happy though (at least as happy you could be considering the initial circumstances). Long read, but funny and well written.

man ive never had bad expiriences with dell or hp, my xgf killed her ipaq somehow, i phoned hp, they transfered me to a tech, i explained the battery was not taking a charge and the pda will not charge it on or off the cradle, hes like ok, just watch for a box to come in purolator and they will ship it back to us for repair, done. turn around time was 3 days, super fast, got a new pda, worked perfectly, sold the pda its all good

LOL I like this line:

She chuckled. “Well, sometimes, people are just ready to head to lunch or go home and they aren’t really interested in helping out. Me, I just got here, so I have a while yet before I get to start pissing people off.”
*as a phone tech himself, sighs at how ridiculous Dell is*

Considering that I've bought 6 computers from Dell, and also witnessed all kind of horrible communication from many people here's my take on that "story".

She gave Dell the wrong address, and then blamed them for it.
She didn't take down her own account information and had given them the wrong address, so they had trouble looking up her account. She couldn't verify her incorrectly given information, so Dell could not give her access to her information. Her continued miscommunication somehow led them to access an account of a different person's whom she insisted was hers. I could go on, but now I'm bored. I don't see how this lady was smart enough to come into possession of $1500 to buy a computer, but maybe she is pretty and that's how she got it.

By the way, the thread starter gets the biggest troll of the forum award.

LMAO

IMO i think its both their faults.... dell screwed up (all companies do this, it is inevitable) and she probably got confused somewhere along the way (all humans get confused sometime... eventually) they were both at a point in time to screw up and meet.
