Yes.

But if that's the sort of ethics you have, why not just hit an old lady over the head and steal her laptop? Way cheaper than Dell.

I had enough of refurbs the drive thingy almost killed me going into my eyelid and a piece broke my right toe as seen in a X-Ray at the emergency center I go to, instead of the germ filled Hospital.

Dell has its own fraud prevention departament that investigates things like that. Read the fine print because doing this might be prohibited.

There's really no such thing as a scam you get away with. In the long run you will pay more in future misery for any wrong action you do. And the ironic thing is, it is you yourself who will put this into force.

In other words: you will burn in hell!

Don't forget you do need to pay shipping back to dell if you return your computer (I think).

why do you think Mr Dell is gonna make $60 Billion this year?

by letting people scam him..or by scamming people by selling them poorly built, cheap machines at inflated prices and always making them think they got a special 'deal' using a bunch of snake charmers in the third world..while he and senior management remain out of contact ?

You decide, while you do Michael's bank balance is breeding.

The conventional way to scam dell is waiting for some mistake on their discount system. For instance, when they mistakenly offer a, say, $400 off coupon while a previously reduced price on the same system did not expire it. Such overlaps may exist for a few hours, resulting in an unintended low price. Some of my friends were able to get $1000 systems for $400 this way. Check out fatwallet's forums. There are many instances of this happening.

Of course, this is not so much of a scam as a mistake on Dell's part.

Mr Dell is making $60B this year? Wow, that's quite a raise. Last year he gave most of that money to his employees and suppliers, and the net income was "only" $3B.

You're not just stealing from Michael Dell when you scam his company. You're taking food from the mouth of some little kid from India, and India controls 25% of the world's karma, so you better watch out!

they don't feed the kids..they just get high and watch cricket
post #15 of 23
Joking aside...with best will in the world I'm not interested in feeding Indian kid's mouths..but I am in getting a decent product and service.

If Mr Dell cares so much about these kid's mouths maybe he should donate some of the $ he saves by employing Indian workers instead of American and paying them a pittance?

There are plenty of machines on the refurb outlet without the need to add to the stock. Plus, it's pretty high-traffic, so the odds of catching the exact machine you send back is vanishingly small.

yes, but chances are you wouldn't get it, b/c someone else would have picked it up...with that said, unless you get free shipping, chances are you will be out the $200 or so dollars for to and return shipping, then to shipping again if dell didn't offer free shipping on refurbs.

one word, and it's a b1tch: karma.

Don't worry, Dell will track you down and take you for all your worth, you'll be humilated in court and be charged with fraud.

Not really if you think bout it. You returned it then made a seperate purchase for a system off the refurb site. 2 transactions, but like was said, what are the chances of getting the exact machine 2 times????
