Network problems

Hi, I just got a new 4760 a few weeks ago and I'm having no luck networking via a regular ethernet cable. Everytime I try to link another computer (even if it's XP) with my XP machine, I get "a network cable is unplugged" even when I've made sure it is plugged in. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, and I've tried it with different cables but no luck so far. Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks,

Jeremy

If you're connecting two computers together without a switch or hub, you'll need a crossover cable instead.

Is that the same as the 3 ft patch cable I bought?

Nope, in a cross over cable there are wires that are crossed. Go back to where ever you bought it and look for labeled crossover. Or get a small switch and another patch cable.
