Can A series do dual independent monitor?

I asked online tech support and they said no. I need to hook up one external monitor but see two different sets of data on the LCD monitor and the external monitor. Thanks for the info.

I just tested my A140 and it supports extending the desktop onto a 2nd monitor with no problem at all.

They may have misunderstood your question. The 9700 video card has no problem doing high res, dual monitor outputs where the native LCD is one of the displays. But whether it can run two external monitors where NEITHER is the native LCD is another question. I don't know the answer to that and am guessing their tech support doesn't know either.

They CANNOT do 2 external monitors. One must be the LCD.

I asked pretty clearly if the laptop can connect to one external monitor and display independent images to 1) the laptop LCD and 2) the external monitor. And amazingly, the answer I got was as detailed as my question and that it was a no.

But since Rick has done the test, I will take his answer. Most laptops these days can do what I stated above. Rick, do you know what the supported max resoultion is for the external monitor? I'd be interested if it can support the 30" Apple LCD (new Apple laptops can do so via DVI!)

Max res of second monitor appears to be 2048x1536.

So is this the final word? I have 2 Dell 2001fp's and am considering purchasing an A-series. Would I NOT be able to run both of them simultaneously?

Yes you should be able to run 2 flat panels.
