Initial Impressions -- 15" Powerbook

The Fedex guy just delivered this to my doorstep an hour ago. My initial impression is that this is the most elegant piece of machinery that I have ever had under my fingertips. The look, feel, and build quality is the best that I have ever experienced in a notebook. The screen is very nice and has better viewing angles than the 12" ibook that I returned a week ago. I am a noob when it comes to Apple but I am learning quickly how easy and intuitive this OS really is. More to follow later.

Crap, while installing a 512 stick of ram, I accidentally scuffed the bottom of my new powerbook

There are 4 screws for the ram cover and 3 were easy to take off but the 4th was a bitch and I ended up scratching the case trying to get the damn thing off.

Its on the bottom and its only about 1/2 inch long so I will rarely see it but I'm still a little peeved since I only had this beauty for a couple of hours. Maybe I'll get an apple sticker to put over it.

Congrats on your new baby! Don't let the scratch bother you. It was due to happen sooner or later. Now you can move on. BTW, your PB does ship with a couple of Apple stickers.

Congratulations! Post a review if you can! But definitely post pics!
Don't worry about the scratch, it happens and at least, you won't see it.

well if i was to post i review i would like to post pictures as well, but these forums do not allow that so , i would have to upload a PDF on to some site and just link it.

but any powerbook owner know that there is far to much to review, i could write a review but i will do it just for you lot

p.s. if you want to give me a easy job, let me review my ipod, i could write that in minuets.

thestateimin, I am thinking of buying a 15 inch powerbook. Is yours still working alright? I am a college student, so I care about portability, do you think it would be easy to carry it around all day? thanks!

thestateimin can host your pics or you can upload your pics at imageshack.us

For the scratch, is it a scratch or a mark. If it is a mark you could try various compounds and see if it comes out. If it is a scratch, you could use paint to touch it up. But I have been able to find touch-up paint for the titanium notebooks, but nothing for the aluminum ones yet.
