What's your favorite Sonoma notebook?

Now that it's a couple months after the Sonoma launch, which computer gets your top pick? Acer 8104? Dell XPS2? Clevo M400A (or whatever Sager will call it)? Asus z71v (my top pick)? Something else? Or are you waiting for AMD Turion laptops to come out? Speak and be heard!

I think I might convert from Asus to Dell for the XPS2.

A 6800Ultra in a 8.5lb package is not that bad... Considering that the 6800 Ultra, from all preliminary benchies, rocks every other mobile (and many desktop) GPUs out there.

I was pretty much sold on the Asus Z71V until the Dell 9300 (basically the XPS2 without the fancy lights and a standard 6800 instead of the 6800 Ultra) became available... Now I'm not so sure. I can get the 9300 through EPP for just a little bit more than the Asus. Better screen, better video card, but less portable. And battery life may be a concern, but some are saying twice the XPS2 because it doesn't have the Ultra - 4 hours would be more than acceptable for me.

So I guess it's between those two for now, but I'm sure something else will come along that will make me change my mind yet again.

I think I've finally decided on the Acer 8104 since I can get it at a local store for 2650 CND (approx. 2100 USD), the Z71V isn't out yet, and the XPS 2 is too big and a Dell*

*Here's my short Dell story:
I ordered an XPS 2 through the phone on Sunday and my tracking number wasn't working so I phoned back Wednesday and apparently they hadn't taken down my information correctly (even though I've ordered from Dell a couple times before so they've got my address on file and I made sure to repeat myself three times for the rep...) so even though I got an invoice my order never really went through. AND they tell me the rep whom I ordered from just left (either got canned or quit, they wouldn't tell me)! So though I never really lost anything, except a few hours of my time for when they put you on hold, and the second rep said she'd honour my previous deal, it gave me a change to think my purchase through and the Acer was the conclusion I came upon (or will come upon).

I LOVE the look of the Sony FS90 (Japan import)... except the fact the video card is doodoo. I've had a number of Vaios, 2 Sagers and a Dell. By far, the Vaios have the looks but lack on the hardware, mainly in the video chipset area

Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 iXPS2 - best notebook video card to date, beats most desktop cards as well.

Let there be GAME

XPS Gen 2... but the Asus and Acer are both really nice machines, too.

The first Sonoma I liked was the Acer 8104.

Then there was the Dell XPS Gen 2 (I never even knew it was coming.. just saw it on the website one day). Don't really like the black trim (prefer white, like the 9200/9300), but I really like the built in, color-changing LEDs.

Now I'm looking forward to the 9300, however, after reading these posts, I now realize that the XPS Gen 2 beats it with the GeForce 6800 Ultra... definitely makes things interesting for me. I saw an i9200 at a Dell stand a few days ago. I picked it up and was surprised at how light the 17" laptop was. Really impressed.

I'm gonna be buying a laptop in June/July/August for University in September. You guys think the XPS Gen 3 or i9400 will be out by then?
