I have a date for XPS2 in the UK

I spoke to a nice tech support guy a week ago and he told me the XPS would be out in 2-3 weeks. This seems to have been confirmed today when I spoke to another guy who gave me the date of.........


drumroll please............



The sixteenth day of the month of March in the year of our lord two thousand and five.

Just to let you know


Oh, and he added that they have had a number of machines arrive in the last few days to aquaint the tech guys with the technology before it goes live

Sounds good, now if only they would release this thing in Australia...

Probably a silly question, but do you specifically ring tech support to find out if they are going to release the XPS2, or are you ringing for some fake tech problem and then trying to work it into the conversation. I only ask because the only people I have spoken to here from Dell have been sales and they no nussing!!!

I have a different date. Date is 30th March 2005. Can't wait anymore since then I cancelled my 9300 order. Why is this looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng waiting.

Lol! All genuine questions! I specifically called them up the first time to ask about the 6800's flavour of memory, and the tech support person let it slip that the XPS2 was coming out. The second time was regarding a replacement battery for my 9100, I'd only used it about 10 times and the thing died! I thought I'd try my luck once the battery issue was sorted and was amazed when he provided me with a date!

Ami, where did you hear that? I heard something similar from a salesperson, end of March - Middle of April. It was actually amazing to get a salesperson who acknowledged its existence, nevermind giving me a date. With this in mind I'll trust the tech support person!

Edit: Just had a thought: Perhaps the 16th is the day it goes live on the web, and they expect to start building/shipping machines around the 30th?

They have taken out the XPS2 listing from Dell more offers link in UK?

Is it true that the original XPS never made it to UK? If thats the case then I doubt the XPS 2 will surface there.

It will surface. I've spoken to a number of Dell people now, and it is on its way. It'll take a very late change for it not to be released here.

Incidentally I think they took it off that page as they were not prepared for info to be made public

I noticed this at 8:00 this morning.

The date you quoted on your earlier post of the 30th did you take that from the special offers page? If you did, remember that was the date of when the offer finished.

Same thing had happened to 9300 also. Due to end date was the release date of it.

I have an internal document from Dell. Got it from a Dell tech guy. Will post it shortly.
