What Else Do I Need To Take Full Advantage Of The Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Sound System?

1) I have bought the new revised Logitech Z-5500 Speakers that come with the new speaker wire.

2) I have a Alienware Area-51m Laptop that comes with an onboard Audio: 5.1 channel out (SPDIF) / Line Out that uses C-Media 3D Audio Configuration Software.

Will my soundcard take full advantage of my Logitech Z-5500 and it's 5.1 Sound capability with THX, Dolby Digital Pro Logic II and DTS Digital Surround Sound? Or do I need a new PCMCIA/USB Sound Card? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hey, i jus recently ordered my Alienware 7700 lappy. I kept the onboard stock card (Intel High Definition 7.1). I have an RCA surround system, a beauty. But the problem 4 u is that u wont git full 5.1 digital sound from games because developers can not make the soundtrack predetermined, it is real time sound. Not like DVD's since they come already pre rendered n what not. But u want to most definitely consider buyin this cable i also jus recieved for the lappy its called a Mini toslink to fiber optic. Its basically the male jack that plugs into the spdif on the lappy then connects it to the fiber optic jack on ur surround system, trust me, i have it n it works beautifully. if u would like more info on this, go to the alienware knowledge base on the site. Then u type in "WHat does a mini toslink look like?" n then it will show u pics of the lappy n the cable i was talkin about, i paid like 10 bucks fo mine so theyre not expensive, but worth alot more, this is what u need , hit me with a private message if u have n e more questions.

I went there and found this. Is this what you are talking about?

HERE

Will this work with my laptop and speaker combination?

Some audio systems supporting digital optical output use the Mini-Toslink instead of the larger Toslink cable. This port uses light instead of electricity to transmit the digital audio signal.

Most of the Alienware mobile systems support both digital coaxial and digital optical S/PDIF in the same jack. However, the Mini-Toslink may mechanically fit on any 1/8 inch stereo jack, but it will not work.

The S/PDIF optical audio signal on a Mini-Toslink cable is compatible with that of a Toslink. You can use adapters or even a Mini-Toslink to Toslink cable.
EDIT: Is this it?

what does the PCMCIA sound card do for you with a 2.1 system that your onboard soundcard cant do for you? i mean if your gonna get that soundcard wouldn't you want to get speakers that have THX, Dolby Digital, DTE and etc.

I've got the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy 2 NX because I want to enjoy CSS with my comfortable Speedlink Medusa 5.1 Headset. I've tried hooking up my rig (internal sound) to my Home Cinema System via optical (SPDIF). It works for DVDsand other presampled sound. But if you want to play games in more than 2.1 sound you'll need an external or PCMCIA soundcard with EAX Advanced HD 3.0 (not only 1.0 or 2.0).
