XPS2 snap cover on 9200/9300?

I wonder if that snap cover would work on the 9200 or 9300? Be an easy way to put anything you want on the cover. I wish they would make something like that for the first gen XPS.

Better yet, will that cover fit the first gen XPS?

I would think not since the XPS2 is 17" LCD. Unless the 17" and 15" is the same height?

If they were the same height, that would affect the aspect ratio. And since they are both 16:10, I would imagine not.

As far as I can tell, the XPS2 and 9x00 QuickSnaps are NOT cross-compatible. The shape of the XPS2 part has indents at the sides where the XPS LED logos are. The 9x00 part doesn't have these.

the question was about the 9200/9300 which all use the same body as the xps 2, so i think that is it a possibility.

I think it would be possible to snap it on, as they are the same monitor size and all, but as Hibby says (indirectly), although you can put it on, it won't give the same effect as with the XPS LEDs

I understood the question my friend. Allow me to illustrate.

On the left is the XPS2 part. On the right, a picture of a 9200 with the QuickSnap a clearly defined blue area. The Quicksnap for the 9x00 will not fit the XPS2 because it would be blocked from seating into place by the XPS logo areas. The XPS2 QuickSnap might fit the the 9x00, but there would be unsightly gaps where it is intended to detour around the XPS logos.

The 9x00 and XPS2 use SIMILAR bodies, but there ARE differences in the way the lid is layed out, and I expect this keeps the QuicSnaps from being compatible.

Any questions?

The funny thing is you're left picture is upside down when comparing to the right. If the 9200 does have the thing at the bottom (part of the hinge?) then yes, I don't think it would work on it. I guess we'll find out for sure when the XPS2s start shipping.

I'll concede that the pic from the XPS2 was upside down. My bad. Either way, the indent on the long side on the XPS2 is where the lid catch is.

I'm 99% positive that the QuickSnaps WILL NOT be cross-compatible.

Ha. I finally figured out what happened there. He apparently didn't understand what I meant by "x" in "9x00". His problem. Not mine.

Technically, x would constitue 9100 as well which could be why he was saying 9200/9300 but I seriously doubt it

<--- Slaps self in head. Really though, considering the context, I thought I was being clear.
