Wireless Problems

I did a search, but I can't find anything similiar to my problem. I am traveling so I don't have my manual. I have a 5690 and just bought a linksys wireless g adapter. Installed the software fine, but the adapter cards light doesn't come on and won't install the drivers. I remember reading long ago before I thought about wireless, that you have to turn the pc card on with one of the function keys. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks

The mini pci is fn+11. not sure about the linky card though.

There is no key function for a pc card -- it is on all the time (at least it is with the 5680).

How did you install?

Some cards require you to install the driver, then insert the card...doing it in reverse will prevent the driver from loading. Go to device manager, what do you see?

I have that same card for my 5670 and when you put the cd in and run the install it only installs the software for some reason. You have to go into the device manager and install them from there. Just leave to cd in or download the latest drivers and unzip them into a folder on you hard drive. And have the device manager look on the cd (or folder you unzipped them in)

thanks for the help, but it didn't work. I installed the software again and then reboot. I attempted to install the card but it wanted an autorun.inf file to install the drivers and couldn't locate that file on the cd. I also downloaded the drivers and the same thing happened. Can't locate the autorun.inf file. I'm at a loss. Maybe I should return this card and try another brand. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Is there some other setup on my 5690 that I don't have configured correctly? I checked the bios and on one of the pages it shows the wireless lan option grayed out. Don't know what that is. Thanks for your help.

I returned the Linksys and purchased a Belkin card. It installed in a few minutes and I was online. Apparently the linksys was just tempormental or something. Anyway I'm good now. Thanks
