I've had two Sony A series computers (both A 190s) and they have both been very slow when importing CDs into iTunes and other music programs. They do it at a max of 8x, as opposed to 15x for my old Asus and 18 or so for a Sony GRT I used to have.
So I did a check with Nero CD speed (http://www.cdspeed2000.com/) and it confirmed a maximum read speed of 8x on a 45 minute audio CD. This compares to a maximum of 40x with my external CD.
This is nowhere near what a (supposed) 24x CD should do.
It writes just fine, in fact twice as fast as it reads, which shouldn't happen either.
Can anyone else confirm slow CD reading with their A series, or suggest a fix? I have DMA enabled.
Cheers
Steve
