It has been on the HP site since late February, and it went live on 3/1, but they still do not allow you to customize anything, according to HP not until early April...

Yes, they were "Coming Soon" rather long, but now people may order them. Still waiting for nw8240 to show up.

For me, the site is slow as heck... pages download for 2 minutes.

Yes, I guess their straregy is to get it on the site ASAP to start generating a pool of potential buyers, and stop or slow down people from buying other models. Even though it is not available yet...

And in my case, and apparently yours, it is working
post #5 of 13
Yeah it's working on me too

Dido on the "working"

so far...

Edit: 3-22-05
It only worked just so long...
M460XL looks Oh so nice!

Gah, I want the nx8220 (same as the 8230 sans the pointing stick), and it's still not available.

There is also some other differences: No serial port on nx8220 and probably also only 1-year warranty.
I actually consider the lack of a serial port a feature . We'll have to see about the warranty; either way, it won't keep me from buying one.

cheers all
Small minority here, but the serial port is a plus for me. One of the things I like about this laptop. To bad it is a bit overpriced.

Why a serial port?
To upload programing to Machines at work. USB-serial converters dont work.
But the PCMCIA card ones work ok. Just beter to have the real deal tho.

I will go with the M460XL even tho no Serial.

I'd actually prefer the system without the serial port and the pointing stick and extra buttons. But, I'm not willing to sacrifice the 3 year warranty to get it, that is if the nx8220 only comes with a one-year warranty.
