Afternoon all-
New member, but long time reader.
I recently picked up a new 700m from Dell. It's the first computer I have purchased in a long time and would like to keep everything running smooth.

Currently using Firefox and spybot.
I'm curious about cookie removal and history removal.
Does anyone have a suggestion that does not have spyware associated with it?

Thanks all.

P.S. I know the first suggestion is search. Tried it and came up with everything ranging from pictures of women to cookie recipies. lol

Welcome to the Notebook forum.
I also like to keep as clean a system as possible and have been using Norton Systemworks since 2003 on my desktop which gives you Norton anti virus as well as Clean Sweep and a number of other programs.
I have purchased Norton Systemworks 2005 to install on my new Dell Inspiron 5160 as soon as Norton Internet Security ( which I hate!!!) 90 day trial period runs out in two weeks.
I know this a program that you have to pay for initially and you must pay once a year to re-new the anti virus subscription ( if you want it) but it is a program that has kept my system running smoothly for a number of years and I trust it completly.
Hope this helps!

www.scar5.com (simple file shredder) can permanatly erase your cookies, temp files, history, it will shred your data up to 20times ensuring PERMANENT deletion. also MRU blaster (makers of spyware blaster) can erase anything youve opened or any RECENT documents that have been saved in your temp folders, etc.

try them both, they are free.

You just need to clear the history and cookies? Why not do this...

On Firefox:
Tools -> Options... -> Privacy
Click Clear History and Clear Cookies.

I hope thats what your asking...

Actually, yes. Ultimately that is what I was trying to do. I've just heard so many stories about internet explorer keeping traces of every site you have been to. I wasn't sure if firefox was the same way. While it is my personal laptop, I don't need friends and family seeing some of the sites I occasionally visit. Wasn't sure if the clear history and cookie in firefox actually got rid of everything.
I was looking at it last night and it seems to.

I am definitely impressed by that program.

Thanks all for the information. Hopefully I can contribute something back to the site at some point in time.
