Battery does not have a huge improvement over XPS2.

XPS2 has 2:13.

"Unfortunately, as this was an engineering sample, there were some stability issues where Mobilemark2002 was unable to complete a run on several occasions. However, the estimated time remaining read three hours, and the test ran for two hours before giving up – already longer than the Inspiron 100.
"

So 3 hours at best?
Defnatly not close to the the 5+ hours some are speculting for the X300 video card.

Makes me feel even better about my XPS2 choice.

xps2 really is cutting-edge,I agree totally.

I'm not sure if they mean it will last 3 hours or 5 hours (2 hours running already + 3 hours left).

@ Maklar, I think it means it will last for 2 hours (why else would the test give up? I hope it's not overheating... )

@DaddyOf2Girls, This one is with the 6800 go, not the X300

I think they meant initially the estimate was 3 hours, but that the program errored out at 2 hours. Dang, they didn't say anything about the quality of the screen.

they say that it's 'gorgeous'..a rarity for a Dell screen. this is without doubt going to be Dell's best ever machine.

Yes i realize that.
Any stats so far have been for the X300 card estimating at 5+ hours.
But alot of people, myself included, want to know how long the 80Whr battery on the i9300 will last with the Go6800 option.

One thing that make me hesitate about choosign the XPS2 over i9300 is the question: Will I regret having half the battery life.

I am still consitering an i9300. But leaning hard on the XPS2 atm.

DID YOU SEE THE PRICE THEY SAID IT WAS!!!

PRICE : $3899

THATS BULLSHIT! YOU COULD GET 2 9300s FOR THAT!!!

No, it has an estimated battery life of 5 hours. Two hours ran, 3 hours remaining.

On a second read, they could have meant the estimated time remaining at the beginning of the test. I guess it's not terribly clear.

The XPS2 is really ugly, IMO. It looks like the laptop equivalent of a cheap and gaudy riced out Civic.

I'm contemplating changing my 6000 order to a 9300.

I like the lights and all I just dislike the black trim they added to the XPS 2. If they kept it with that metallic finished look of the 9300 and simply added the XPS on the lid + leds that would've been perfect.
metallic finish? I thought it was just a difference between white/black trim(which, on the 9200, felt really cheap to me, but I think it's a worthy compomise), barring the LEDs on the XPS

reading that passage a few more times.. I'm starting to think that it has 5 hrs of battery life, because it was saying how Mobilemark 2002 was unable to complete a run on several occasions - I guess that's what they meant when they said "give up" after 2 hours.

I guess I should've been more clear - I don't like the ribbed metal look on the xps 2 cover and would rather have had the flat finished look of the 9300 (hope that made sense this time around). I also like the white trim around the cover/keys more than the black. About the battery, I think its a 5 hr time as well and they only managed to complete 2 before the program screwed up and indicated 3 hrs more were remaining.

thanks for clearing that up. I couldn't agree more. If it weren't for the LEDs, I'd much prefer the look of the 9200/9300, but the LEDs really make it a tough choice (although I'm buying neither...yet... lol)

I just emailed the author of the review, asking for clarification regarding the battery life and the screen.

I'll let you know what he answers

Has anyone seen the XPS2 benchmarked on 3DMark 2001? All I've seen are benches for 03 and 05, so we can't compare the bloody scores between the 2.0 Dothan/6800Go and 2.13 Dothan/6800GoUltra...a matter of some import given the fact you can get a 9300 for almost half the price of the XPS2...

???Dang...

Well keep in mind that 3dmark 2001 is much more cpu dependent than 03 and 05 so there might not be a big diff. between the two laptops there.
