Waste of money?? Let's see you carry your XPS desktop around with you, for the money you would have been better off to have bought the I XPS Gen 2 and completely decked it out with a spare battery than two computers, you could have saved some money. Actually compairing laptops the XPS Gen 2 has no equals in price and speed. I would like to see a comparison between your desk top XPS to a laptop XPS Gen 2, bet it would not be that much slower.LeeU

I paid approximately $3850 including taxes. $2500 of which I paid immediately and the other $1350 is financed interest-free through my work and taken out of my paycheck over a 1-year period.

I don't seem to have the hookups I guess, so I'm paying:

$3,430.14

Inspiron XPS-Gen2,Pentium M 760 (2GHz/533MHz FSB)
17in True Life Wide Screen UXGA,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
1GB,DDR,533MHz 2 Dimm,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Ultra,for IXPS-Gen2
60GB Ultra ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
Microsoft Windows XP Home Service Pack 2, English, for Inspiron XPS
8X DVD+/-RW Drive,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g,54Mbps),for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
80 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
Backpack Carrying Case,for Inspiron XPS-Gen2
4 Year Limited Warranty
CompleteCare Accidental DamageProtection, Inspiron, 4 Year
Personalization Shield w/Inserts,for Inspiron XPS-G2
post #13 of 36
I paid $2808 US for:
Inspiron XPS-Gen2
512MB RAM
60GB 5400 RPM HardDrive
8X DVD+/-RW
1350 Wireless Card
2 Years Next Business Day On Site Repair
2 Years Accidental Damage Service
Extra 80 WHr Battery
350 Bluetooth Module
Personalized Shield
Free ground Shipping
Tax included
Free Dell Color Printer 720

But now with the 35% off coupon which only works for the 9300 I get all the same hardware and add ons, except no 2.0 P M instead of 2.13 and No Ultra for $2100. So that comes out to be functionally, $700 for .13GHz and the upgrade from the Non-Ultra to the Ultra which is just under double the performance. Is it worth it? I also like the looks of the iXPS2 much, much more. Would pay at least $150 for that. So if I include that consideration, It's $550 more for the 2.13 and Ultra. We know that the price difference is $300 for the 2.0 to 2.13 at the Dell site, so subtracting that it's $250 for the Ultra. I don't think that's worth it. Hmmm. What to do? I'm still wanting the iXPS2 just on the basis of looks and power. I don't game on my notebook that much, though I do develop games on it. I could put some stickers on the 9300.

LOL those are some mighty fine prices... GOOD DEALS!

I hoping that I can get 2.0 GHZ, 1 Gig ram, and dvd burner ( including tax) for around 2600.00
post #15 of 36
It's at the bottom of the signature. $500 off and Dell EPP discounts through my university. I think it's a fair deal for what I'm getting.
$2650 here after reordering with $750 coupon.

Out of curiosity, how did you get that price ajbrutico?

And on another note, why does Dell add sales tax to out of state customers (like Michigan)? I thought they could only do this if they had a brick and mortar sales outlet in that state...

Thanks

Some states require tax no matter what. I don't know why, but if I order (to Louisiana) from Home, I pay not tax. But if I order from Small Business I pay tax at about 5%.

$2,218 after tax - most basic config + 1350 wireless. Already have a 60gig 7200rpm drive waiting and an external USB enclosure for the stocker. Will need to upgrade the memory at some point. I clicked buy when it was $700 off under small biz.

3449$ including tax
I chose 3 year warranty with complete care
And I live in Montreal = taxes 15%
