3790 2.08 Bios

I was looking on Eurocom's site and they have a 2.08 BIOS for the Sager 3790 aka Eurocom M37EW Milano. Have any of you guys tried this one out?

Changelog

R2.082004/12/30
To fix garbage problem when running 3D Mark 2003

PS: I'll try this afternoon, maybe it also solves the video issue, maybe not
UPDATE: I could't resist so I updated the BIOS a few minutes ago and... I'm wrinting with the laptop so... I guess it works. I'll test the video playback issue this afternoon (though I don't have many hopes it will be solved with this BIOS version). I have noticed they have solved the Fn/Ctrl mixed up; now Fn is Fn and Ctrl is Ctrl (European laptops had this issue when updating the BIOS). I'll have to get used to the keys positions again

Can you explain that Ctrl/Fn problem? I haven't heard of that.

Fn/Ctrl Keys question...

Right now, Sager is providing two BIOS versions: R2.06S and R2.07S1; I flashed my Hundyx M37EW (Clevo M37EW or Sager 3790) with both versions and when I was going to copy, paste or cut something (text i.e.) - I always use Ctrl+C/V/X (well I sometimes use Shift+Ins to copy whatever) - I didn't copy or paste or cut anything until I found out that those BIOS files changed the function keys so that Fn became Ctrl and Ctrl became Fn.
I got used to this, in fact I like it because I don't have to look for Ctrl key with my eyes (I know it's the down left corner key of the keyboard); but this morning when I flashed the BIOS with this new version (2.08 provided by Eurocom); that issue was the first thing I tested and function keys were changed again: Fn has Fn functions and Ctrl has Ctrl.

This is what I meant with mixing up the keys.

Maybe I can have this issue because I have a Spanish keyboard and there are some keys (like ñ) which don't exist in other keyboards. So, that's why I think some european keyboards might experience this issue until they update the BIOS to 2.08 version (german,...)

PS: I'm gonna start testing video playback issue (Cross your fingers! )

Here's the link for 2.08: http://www.eurocom.ca/support/driver.../M37EW_208.zip

Unzip this file, burn a bootable CD with the unzipped files (you don't to butn the CD with the unzziped files if you store them in the HDD); restart your computer, and boot with the bootable CD, go to the directory were you have stored the unzziped files (CD or HDD), take a deep breath, type "FP M37EW208.BIN" and... cross your fingers while you pray (Wait until it finishes and it asks you to reboot the computer)

PS: Video playback issue hasn't been solved in this version... (I didn't expect it was going to be solved, but... I had some faith...)

Anonym: I take it you're from Spain then ... right?

So correct me if I'm wrong, you have a Hundyx m37ew and you used the Sager 2.07 BIOS. I guess since your laptop is localized for Spanish use, that BIOS switched the CTRL and the Fn keys. Right? And after you used Eurocom's 2.08 BIOS, everything is fine? I'm hoping that nothing will affect my 3790 if I install it. I'm glad that this BIOS solved your problem.

Hi all,

Sorry for the lame question, but can you please provide steps to making the bootable CD? I have the Nero Express that came with my 3790... It asks for a bootable floppy, but I don't have a floppy drive - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Greg

I wouldn't use that if I were you. That keyboard BIOS is for the Clevo M375E aka Sager 3760.

The Sager 3790 is a Clevo M37EW.

I don't know what potential damage you could do if you were to install a BIOS meant for another computer.

hey wait. if the 2.08 bios fixed your keyboard mappings does that mean the lower left corner is Fn and inside is Ctrl like

|Fn||Ctrl| ? because mine is |Ctrl||Fn| and I like it like that... so should I use the eurocom driver or does another company have a 2.08 that matches my keyboard?

Unless you have a specific problem that a newer BIOS update addresses, DON'T update your BIOS. It's not worth the potential consequences...Unless of course, you don't mind buying another motherboard....Just my .02
