Cheap and good.

Actualy i really wanted the dell inspiron 9200, but they took it off the site. Do you guys know where can i shop dell besides their site?
For the dell, you could try eBay... For similar specs (except the 17" widescreen), you could look at the Systemax Pursuit 4210 at Tiger Direct, the Sager 3790 at PC Torque or Discount Laptops or one of several customizable laptops at Coboc. Or for a similar price, you could customize an Asus z71v from Integrated System Technologies or Pro Portable. The choices are endless...

Thank you so much..

Is the nvidia go 6600 better than radeon 9700??
and now, lets filter a little bit more.. i want a silence one.. i read some topics about a loudy nb, like uniwill , is that right?
Yes, the 6600 is about the same at the ATi x700, which is the next step better than the 9700. ATi has a comprehensive list of all the notebooks that use a specified graphics card on their website. Unfortunately, Nvidia doesn't have the same thing, but if you look around the forums, you'll be able to find them.

As to noise, I've read good things about the Sager 3790 and Systemax 4210. The Asus isn't out yet, but I have faith (considering I ordered one!) and other Asus reviews show that most seem pretty quiet. I don't know how much money you have to spend, but the Acer Travelmate 8100 series is also excellent. You can find several reviews in the Acer section.

What is the primary reason/use for your new laptop?
What are the three major concerns with your purchase? (i.e. Budget, gaming, portability, multi-tasking...)

If money wasn't an object what would your system specs be? (this might help determine the first question)

When making a major purchase I think it is important to list all these things out, then prioritize them from 1 to 10. Doing this will bring into perspective what you really want/need/afford(the hard part). From that point it will also make it easier for others to help you find it. Hope this helps

I want it for everything.. will be my machine from now on
so, i want for gamming (radeon 9700 is fine), work (autocad, photoshop, etc), movies.
i dont care so much about portability (17" is fine too)

Pentium M 1.6
Radeon 9700 128mb or higher
1gb ddr333
60gb hd (5400rpm)

thats what i want, i was thinking about dell 9200 but its not on dell.com anymore. Any suggestions with same spec and price? (no more than 1600)

With those three responses I would save up $2k or more, then buy. You will get buyers remourse if you buy something non-upgradable. Once you get the money then start looking, as technology and price change rapidly.

Pm 2.0 or higher
P4 3.4 or higher(800 FSB is great)
Nvidia 6800, or X800 PCI E(upgradable)
With at least 1gb of Ram
at least 120 gb(gaming and work use) a lot of memory needed(I would get 7200 rpm drives for faster HD access).
17" wsxga or Wuxga screen(movies, and gaming)
2 optical drives(8x DVDR drives)
Good external speakers
Anyother extra's(per your needs)

Try the Toshiba s2...mine has a 6600go and only cost me 1.6K....pretty nice deal...
for WAYYYYYYY under 2K you can get the compal CL56, its barebones so yuo can get whatever you want in it, has OK battery life compared to other centrino platforms.

OR

you can get the Asus M6Ne (non wide screen SXGA), you can get what ever options you want since its barebones, it will also be cheaper.

when you buy a prebuilt laptop IE: dell, hp, compaq, toshiba, sony you dont know what kind of components they put in it, they NEVER tell you. most of the time they will throw in the cheapest crap to cut costs. i dont recommend any prebuilt laptop since with barebones you can get quality components usually for cheaper (Newegg comes to mind)
