3211... looks like I need 7200rpm HD :P

Ran again and got 3241. 30 pts higher than before with 3 added programs running while testing. Go figures.

Dell 700m owners ever try playing a 3d game or is it impossible. I'm considering buying one but it would be nice to know if it is bossible maybe with some older or less intensive games. Any fps benching on this stuff?

Hmm... maybe he left some processes running? I think he's not a benchmarking nut in general, perhaps he had a/v and some other things running... I'm surprised that your desktop bench was that much higher than mine, 4263 for a 3.2GHz, 1G ram, X800 OC, 7200 SATA, etc.

This doessn't seem very impressive considering he had 200mhz more processing power and double the RAM and Vid RAM of my system and I scored 4938 LOL! Somebody got robbed!!

Here are a couple of scores that may give a perspective.

Dell 670 Dual 3.2 with Nividia FX 3400 with 256megs & 3 gigs of mem....5990
Dell M70 2.0 with 2 gigs of memory ...............................................4089

He wrote back that the machine was loaded with daily tasks, but idling.

Also, I'm sure it's the law of diminishing returns as you get closer to the laws of physics

PCMark is an overall index, so it's probable that chasing down the last 200-300 points would be very costly. Consider Pappy's Dual Xeon as the ultimate, it's 700 points away from the Sager, so you can see he would be lugging around quite a sizable notebook to walk around with 5900 pcmarks

I dunno, that's just what PCMark told me. I keep my laptop very clean, no nonessential processes running (no virus scanner, no SpeedswitchXP, etc.). Maybe that helped my score.

3014 is my best so far.
See sig for specs...

To the guy who asked about the graphics performance... If you're used to a desktop, you'll be disappointed. I have played The Sims (1) and Neverwinter Nights on my machine, and the results are not very impressive. My gf's Vaio V505 with a 9200 blows it away. Sad but true. If you want to game, get a Vaio S360.

The 700m is light, cool, and quiet, but it just can't hang in a graphics competition.
