Is it annoying to type on it since there is basically NO space between the keyboard and the computer itself. The keyboard just stretches all the way from left-to-right.

How is the battery on the computer and how heavy is it?

The keyboard is full size so it´s a dream to use. Actually it´s the best keyboard I´ve ever used, even compared to normal stationairy computer keyboards.

I´ve never run any scientific tests of the battery capacity. Apple states a 5 hour run time. If you turn down the screen and not touch the computer I think you can get these 5 hours. But when i cumes to normal use I´d say you can get like 4 hours just typing documents and doing non cpu intense tasks. I use it to watch movies on the train and it´s no problem to get the battery to last more than 3.

The weight is 2,1 kg.

Very nice, wish the battery and the weight was the same on the 15" Powerbook, the battery life isn't quite as good as in the 12".

But its not heavy, just that it's not light either

having the iBook which does the same thing w/the KB u were talking about i completely agree with n1lzzon. i think my keys are like 97% compared to the full size that the PBs have. in any case, i like my 12" iBook KB better than the one on my old 14" compaq!

The smal size and low weight is what i love most (besides from os x and the fact that it´s a mac) with this computer. When you carry it with you to school it´s a big difference between 2 kg and 3 kg.

If I would complain about something it would have to be the display. It´s not bad but not as good as those on the 15" and 17" PowerBooks.

the keyboard on the apple stuff is great. they designed them so the letter keys are big and the less used keys are smaller and it makes them harder to press my accident.

the 12 inch powerbook has bigger keys than the largest pc laptops. but it is a shame it dont have a backlight keyboard like the 15 and 17 inch

Since I will only be using this @ School and I would prefer the 14-15" screen.. How is the 14" iBook in battery, screen, weight anr and all.

Or is the 15" Powerbook with more battery, better screen, lighter and overall better?

If I had to choose between the 14" iBook and 15" Powerbook, and it would me used mainly in school, and watching dvd's, just the avarage use. Which computer would suit me more?

Good battery( more then 3 hours ), and light.

There is no point to get the 14" iBook. It has the same resolution, 1024x768, as the 12" has. In my opinion there is no reason at all to bye the 14" iBook.

If you are not planing on doing anything more than average use I think the 12" iBook would be a perfect companinon for you.

When I was planning on getting a laptop I first looked at the iBook. But after some thinking I settled with the 12" PowerBook. First of all, i looks far nicer imo, and the performance is better.

If you configure the iBook with BT, larger HDD and so on you will find that the difference in price "only" is 375$.

But of cource it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend on a laptop and what your needs are.

Regarding the battery capacity on the iBook vs. the PowerBook it´s like this:

The 12" iBook has the best battery capacity, second is the 14" iBook.

Of the PowerBooks is the 12" best, 15" second and 17" third in terms of battery capacity.

The differences can be explained by the diffrent clock speeds of the processors, diffrent graphic cards and the size of the displays.

12inch iBook: 50 watt hour battery
14inch iBook: 61 watt hour battery

The 14" display is actually 36% larger than the 12". You have to compare the areas of the to sizes not only the diagonal.

Good point. But the 36% bigger screen doesn't directly mean 36% more power draw. Since both pannels are 1024x768, the increase in power draw on the 14 inch comes mostly from the bigger backlight needed.

Hey all, Nice Pix I've been thinking heavely in regards towhich powerbook I should purchase. The 12" certainly is awesome but I fear the small screen becomes hard to work with after a while. Is this a problem for you, and is it worth it to spend more for the fifteen inch powerbbok? -Thnx!!

yeh, my friend has the 14", gets 5+ hrs out of hers. i get 3.75+ on my 12"...i have battery envy...

I have no problem using the 12" screen with its 1024x768 resolution. I wouldn´t mind having the extra pixels from the 15" display. But for me the low weight and smaller form factor is more important, not to mention the lower price.

I don´t know if you have tryed OS X. It has a very usefull feature called exposé, check it out at apple.com. It makes working with "low" screen resolution much more easy than with for example Windows.

I use my 12" PowerBook as my main and only computer and I like it very much.

I need help, superfast, going to buy the 12" powerbook, if anyone could please help me since I well.. Suck at finding things where in London can I buy the 12" powerbook!?

And how much battery time are you getting on your 12" PB?
