HT bios on non-HT machine

I have been piggybacking these questions on gentoowally's post and just thought I should probably create my own. Just to reiterate, I have a pre-Feb 2003 NP8887 with a non-HT 2.8 processor running the current Omega drivers . Consequently, when I use the TV tuner, the picture is very fuzzy. Thus, I am wondering the following two things:
1) Will flashing to the newest bios, designed to enable the HT in HT-processors but also reputed to fix the Omega/TV tuner glitch, harm my non-HT system?
2) Is the bios posted upon the eurocom website, http://www.eurocom.com/support/drivers/old_bios.html, R3.06a.128, the most current bios for my model?
Please, will someone help me out? Thank you in advance.

If the TV is "Fuzzy" and you are using "Cable TV", make sure thtat you are using NTSC HRC or one of the other NTSC settings. Cable TV is not the same as pure NTSC. Additionally, if you have "retuned" the tuner more than a couple of time, deinstall it and the software and then reinstall. It remembers everything and tries to "balance" tuning; however, does a miserable job of it.

BIOS - If you did not purchase your system from EUROCOM, I would be very carefule about uring their BIOS. They may work and again they may make your machine a non-working "brick" - that will will cost $50+ to remedy (new BIOS chip). I would NOT flash a BIOS to enable HT when I know that chip set would not support it.

By "deinstall it and the software then reinstall" do you mean I should physically remove the tuner from my machine, uninstall AverTV, put the tuner back in, then reinstall AverTV? If so, I have looked at my tuner chip and could not identify how to remove it from the motherboard. If you have any advice on this, please let me know.
Also, it has been stated on http://notebookforums.com/showthread...ight=8887+bios that the 888E is the same model as Sager's 8887 and therefore, those bios should work. Beside that point, if this is not the case, can ANYONE tell me where to get a current 8887 BIOS for a machine without HT?

No..... Uninstall the device in Windows control panel. Uninstall the drivers and software and the reinstall them. Sorry about not being too specific.

As far as the BIOS goes - Caution would be the word.

I have done this several times to no avail. To proceed, I plan to
1. Study for my finals so I don't flunk out of med school
2. Wait for spring break and uninstall the TV tuner drivers and software via Windows control Panel
3. Uninstall the Omega drivers
4. Reinstall the factory video drivers straight from Sager's website
5. Reinstall TV tuner drivers and utilities and test for functionality. If it works, then it will confirm the "Omega BIOS bug" and I shall continue my quest for a proper BIOS and the guts to flash it. If I still get a fuzzy picture, I shall put on sackcloth and ashes, mourn, and pursue an alternate course. *sigh*
Thank you for your help and I will keep you updated
