Looks like Alienware changed their price adjustment policy

Sorry if this is old news

From the promotions FAQ:

After I placed my order, Alienware lowered the price on my system or gear shop item. Can I receive the lower price or get a reimbursement?

No, you cannot receive a different price from what was agreed upon when you ordered your system or gear shop item. The price at any given time reflects a variety of factors, and in order to be fair to all of our customers, the price at the time of the invoice cannot be altered. Likewise if the price were to rise after you paid, you would not be charged more.

That's no good at all...

I really don't see a problem with that policy as it is in writing....if it is a large amount, say $500 then it would hit hard but none the less, its their policy and for gear shop stuff, it would only be a matter of a few bucks and AW owners get 10% in the gear shop as it is....ewolff, did this happen to you as a discount soon after purchase or something like that?

No, I found it today while looking around the site. Check this one out though

After I placed my order, Alienware offered a promotion/rebate on my system or gear shop item. Can I get a rebate or reimbursement to the lower price?

No, you cannot receive a rebate or promotion that was not active when you ordered your system or gear shop item. Only orders placed within the promotion period are eligible for the promotion. The price at any given time reflects a variety of factors, and in order to be fair to all of our customers, the price at the time of the invoice cannot be altered. Likewise if we offered a rebate when you ordered but then stopped shortly thereafter, you would still receive the rebate.
I did this with my system and they let me do it, but that was last December.

ewolff, I assume they had people asking for the rebate or discount months later so I guess they had to take a stand, and stick with it but I can see where someone might get a little hot if a $500 discount came up a day or two after they ordered...at least they put it in writing and thus I assume there would be no exceptions unless you were to cancel and reorder...not much AW could say in that instance as it is within their policy to cancel prior to shipping without any cost to the purchaser

and the Hammerhead response...lol

so you cancel your order all together and then place a new one. they risk you going with someone else. If a system is going to take a month or more to make they better honor the price changes.

Actually Alienware is in the right. As a company, its ludicrous for them to adjust any price after a person went under contract. The only legitimate recourse is for the person to cancel and reorder but for the company to internally adjust the price is a bad business move. Its nice to see Alienware developing their business practices.

The answer is to ship items FASTER....someone said Gear shop items can take 3 weeks to deliver....you gotta be kidding me. Maybe if they put stuff out the door ASAP they wouldnt have these issues.

Their policy used to be that they would adjust the price if your order has not shipped. That's how I got the rebate. I can understand them saying no to someone a month after they receive their system. But if your system is not even in production yet, that's a whole different story.

just cancel your order and place another one

dont let those assholes push you around, you are the customer, customer satisfaction should come first EVEN if it means pulling strings. after all, you are giving them their paycheck, why not make you happy so you can be a return customer?

He would never spend what an AW costs anyway..the policy is in writing and it you don't like it then go elsewhere but AW has a very loyal base and people return for purchases as my office is..replacing Dell with AW..DB has done the same for his wife's clinic so if AW loses one sale they gain 3 from DB and 7 from us...I really do not see this policy hurting AW in any way as they do not seem to relay upon mass sales and credit ripoff to make a buck

Yes, and maybe they can start building only a few configurations of cheap crap, make millions of them and keep them on shelves and become a shipping company instead of a custom high performance computer manufacturer...

Then they can change their name to Dellware.

They don't suck because of the coupons, they have to offer coupons to sell their garbage because it sucks.
