9300 order status

I ordered on 3-3-05 in the morning and it has been setting in production for 2 days with nothing actually checked, just that it was "in production" but none of the subphases. I ordered and got an email est. ship date of 4-14-05 , but was glad to see it in production, although it was just sitting there. I contacted dell by numerous methods and am told that there was a part that it was waiting on, but somehow nobody knew what I then saw another post by someone that said the 1.73ghz option may be the reason, if you go to the site it now says unavailable ship date for the 1.73ghz option and actually gives a 3-25 ship date for all others. I called to complain many times on why my system is shipping out 3 weeks after the current new configuration if you build it, but no one seemed to know, big surprise

So now I check and it is past the kitting and building and is in testing ...but I contacted dell to confirm and they keep saying it is on hold for a part, they somehow can't seem to see that it is already apparently built! and in testing. I ask how can a computer that is in testing phase and already built have an est. ship date of 4-14-05, and I get nothing but scripted answers. So I'm hopeful that they are just all morons, previously confirmed, and that the order status is correct and it is in testing.

Yeah, there seems to be lot of break-down in the "Order Status" reporting. Seems like I'm always in the middle of the supposed Order Status options, when one day I get an email with a tracking #, which shows the system was shipped a couple of days before. For your specific case, they probably did run out of the 1.73 stock AFTER your order. And for the general case, I'm guessing that at each phase after production the "kit" has a bar code that has to be scanned in order for the phases to show up. But these get missed sometimes (or most of the time?). So one day, you answer your front door and it's the UPS man. I think one time I checked my order the day I received my notebook, and it still said building or something.

I sure hope that it is not still expected to ship the 4-14-05, when I can place an order now and get it sooner. I realize that if it is in testing that it will be shipped within a few days, as I have ordered plenty of dell products, but the folks at dell seem to think otherwise.

I am on chat now with dell and keep getting "your estimated ship date is 4-14-05"
then why is my status showing testing?
"your order is in the testing phase and is in production"
then why is the order sheduled to ship so long away?
"sometimes there are delays with parts or supplies that cause delays"
but my order is built already, how can there be a delay?
"your estimated ship date is 4-14-05"
Yes but my computer is in the testing phase, how can the ship date be so far off
"Our ship dates are estimates and we do not guarantee them, they are only estimates, etc."
"Our products go throuh rigourous testing procedures, etc. etc."
Testing for 6 weeks?
"We test the 200+ titles, blah blah blah"

It's just a never ending cycle of studpidiy!!!

LOL, they probably shipped it yesterday. The testing is completely automated and takes less than a day.

I ordered mine at like 3am on 3/4 and by the afternoon it made it to 'Testing'. Unfortunately I had to cancel because I wanted to upgrade to the 4 year warranty since after rebate it came out to $25 less than the price I had with the 3 year. Now it's just 'In Production', but hasn't gone thru any of the phases yet. Delivery is still showing as 3/18 however.

Maybe sonicwind is right and mine the 1.73ghz were going to take forever, but mine squeeked out before the delay hit, and is still showing the long delievery date. I just wish Dell CSR's could leave the scripted crap and tell me real information that it looks like it should ship within a few days.

I got upgraded to Next Day shipping and and a concession coupon!

Cancelled my 9200 order today...just in the nick of time. It had been sitting in the boxing phase since Thursday or Friday...and I've been thinking all weekend about cancelling and reordering the 9300. Got the order cancelled and the new order is already in. Upped my warranty to the 4 year (w/ CC) since there was a $100 rebate. Changed a few things vs. the 9200 and ended up paying a total of a $100, after rebate. I have a ship date of like the 24th...but hoping I'll be one of the lucky ones that get their order "moving", quickly. ('course my 9200 sat on "in production" all last week till Friday where it had been sitting on "Boxing".

Looks like the Dell 9300 with the Go6800 is a screamer and easily under 2000.
much better option than the XPS2 IMHO.

...praying you're right bro...praying you're right :-D

I didn't come in anywhere NEAR "easily under $2000" though...$2400+ with tax, even after EPP and 20%, but I'm maxed out everywhere but RAM.

Hibby have you tried the 35% off coupon in SB? you might save a bit more..

Just did the daily (ok, hourly) ritual of checking my order status...even though I just ordered it yesterday (see my post above)...lol
It had said "processing", yesterday...but when I checked this morning, it says "Order on Hold"...anybody have any reasons as to why this would be? Didn't have this problem with the 9200 order.
My sales rep doesn't get into work until 2pm est so I'll be dying till then.
Any info greatly appreciated.

Congrats mitsuagi! when did you order yours?

First I ordered 1 x 9300 and i got acknowledgement and confirmation e-mails. Then they cancelled my order without reason. No big deal, I reorder, by mistake I ordered 2 x 9300s but I only got acknowledgement e-mail and not confirmation e-mail. I will cancel one of the 2, but I am not sure if everything is ok since I got no confirmation e-mail. Any ideas?

Are you in US? I ordered it a few minutes after it was released on 3/3/05 but mine is still in production (if I call, the automated system says it is in the "build" stage).

I paid about $2400 inc. tax for...
17" WUXGA
2GHz
60GB/7200
6800 Go
512MB (upgrading later)
DVD+/-RW
9-cell battery
4 year warranty w/CompleteCare

Might have saved a few $ with SB, but would have lost my warranty deal. I'll definately check and see if I can do what I wanna do, but I have my doubts.
I don't think SB offers 4 year on the 9300. They do offer it on the XPS2 though so you might be able to call and get it, not sure.

Mine is in testing now.... If it shipped even a few days early it would be great...

The suspense is killing me.... I want it now...
