Mac OS X "Tiger"

Thread Starter
So Tiger will be released in the first half of this year. Anyone really excited by some features? Me personally am excited by CoreImage. It could improve the graphics part of Mac.

Any comments related to the release of Tiger are welcome.

i'm excited that the swap file will finally be encrypted with file vault.

i'm excited about spotlight, although it needs a hotkey trigger.

i'm NOT excited about dsahboard as it still isn't as good as konfabulator.

i'm excited about speed improvements.

actully dashboard is ALREADY faster than konfabulator and there are plenty of widgets being made at the moment.

i can comfirm that tiger will have fixed most of the panther bugs, window resizing will be A LOT faster.

i am excited about xcode 2, that will enable people to make apps really easily and it will complie them to run faster and take full advantage of 64 bit processing.

knowing apple, they must have left some good stuff out of the beta to stop it getting leaked, i am interested to see what happens

It's not about speed for me.. i don't think konfabulator is slow or processor intensive. I don't want to have to hit a hot key to see my widgets.. i like them on my desktop. In my limited interfacing with dashboard, that wasn't possible, maybe it has changed.

Samba support is still something they needed to sort out las dev prev i looked at, which was about 1 cycle ago. Speed is always good.

So you are a developer then? What sorta stuff do you work on?

Probably not, they didn't with panther. They have to release it as it will be, in order for developers to take advantage of the new stuff. I don't think the small percentage of the mac market that uses leaked stuff would stop them from logical and effective progression.

p.s just a heads up, your siggy says wndscreen when i think you meant widescreen.
