is voodoo m515 really ASUS Z71V

Thread Starter
I just saw both model and they seem to be identical. But what gives I can get on with literaly thousands of dollars less. is there some thing Im missing or is voodoo over price is for the paint job and customer service?

similarly configure systems

Asus
$1684

voodoo
$3026

I can probably paint in on my own, or is it that the asus is know more to computer builders and the voodoo is more for mainstream?

Please does some one have an explination?

If those systems are identical then that must be a very expensive paint job. The Voodoo is probably very sweet looking though. but you should really look into how well support is handled by the two choices.

You're not missing a thing. Voodoo (or Alienware or Falcon or Cyberpower and many more) don't make their own laptops, they just rebadge and sometimes repaint. There is no difference otherwise.

My thoughts exactly. I might have to go and buy the laptop and get it painted somewhere else.

I recently sold my Voodoo laptop. Nothing wrong with the machine, but it was spooky for me whenever I moved it anywhere - always afraid I'd scuff it. I'll never buy another painted laptop from any company.

BTW, I've seen several different versions of this machine offered. The most major difference I've noticed (other than paint), is the screen. One version offers an XGA only. Another offers up to SXGA. Never looked to see about Voodoo's because I don't think it's available without paint.
