iXPS2 100GB drive speed might be 7200 rpm?

Thread Starter
I just got the latest PC Gamer and there's a 2 page add for the new Inspiron XPS Gen 2 and Desktop XPS Gen 4.

In the specs for the iXPS2 it lists the 100 GB drive as being a 7200 rpm drive. Not sure if that's a misprint or if it really is a 7200 rpm drive, but if it is I'm a little miffed since I passed on the larger drive due to the speed as listed on the order page.

I don't have a way to scan the add in at this point unfortunately (travelling for business and no scanner).

I don't think any manufacturer has released 100GB 7200rpm drives for retail sale yet...

It's a misprint for sure. As iatacs19 says no one makes such a drive yet for laptops.

i think it's just dell's marketing trick to get gamer's attention to the ixps2. as of today, seagate (which is the only company promising to deliver 100GB at 7200rpm) has yet to come out with anything yet.

If you do a search, you can probably drag up the e-value code someone posted a week or two ago. It's for an iXPS2 with a 100gb 7200 rpm drive, in the hard drive space it says 100gb 7200rpm drives are currently unavailable. Dell is planning to have that as an option for sure.

Ah, that's what it is, Dell's marketing campaign was probably set months before print and somebody (Seagate?) slipped on their release date. You're right, I bet one becomes available in the next couple of months.
