Are you worried the WUXGA res will be too small? - Page 2

Personally, I think WUXGA is the perfect resolution for a 17" LCD
Text will be a little bit smaller than on a 15.4" WSXGA+ screen.

Dell REALLY needs to bring back the WSXGA+ option so people can select it, 1650x1050 would be an excellent choice between the two extremes (1440x900 and 1920x1200)

Agreed!

As my luck would have it, the Sony floor model with the WUXGA 1920x1200 screen wasn't working.

WUXGA is too small for some people. Hard to judge. I used UXGA on a 14 inch notebook for a year, and WUXGA on a 15.4 for a year as well. I wouldn't get another WUXGA 15.4. For me WUXGA in 17inch format is perfect. I would say if you wear glasses to read, WUXGA may not be for you.

Thread Starter
I've seen the Sony A690 along with the previous version of the Sony A series laptops with the WUXGA display. It is indeed sharp and there is a "zoom" button on the A series that reduces the resolution to 1024x768. The surprising thing is at that particular resolution it still looks very sharp and clear, not like many LCD displays that when you set them at a non native resolution they look fuzzy. The only problem is that 1024x768 is too low a resolution, there is too much display real estate lost.
