Alien Credit issue - Page 3

Good things come to those who wait. I had to use the AW credit thing and it took over a week to get my stuff going from the time I sent the paperwork back. I know it sucks having to wait when you want something so bad but sometimes it's best to chill out a bit before starting threads that flame AW.

Here here, I am in the position of making my own rig up now, while I await the ALX likely to hit the shores of the UK, as well as the finance boys... does not help with having a new car on the way.

But I would not flame Alienware...may still get a lappie from them if all goes well, so those with Alienwares in the UK why not get us a subforum so we can talk about UK Alienware CS?

Hypocricy at it's finest, my friends.

For such a large company, it shouldn't take a week to process financing even if the customer was new. The fact that the customer already has an account established makes this unacceptable in my opinion. Do credit card companies need to reverify your credit everytime you make a large purchase? I don't blame Alienware for this, but if their finance company really does force you to go through a credit check again everytime you make a purchase, they should consider switching companies. I've applied for credit from two separate boutique vendors, and I had a response and approval the same day. As it turns out, both companies use the same credit company because the bills are like exactly the same.
Yes, and if you really want to insure a long wait for a machine, order a Voodoo. Hypocrisy at it's finest indeed.

I've heard nothing but horror stories about getting financed for an Alienware computer.
At least they offer financing in some form.

If you don't like it, you don't have to use it.

Alienware accepts most credit cards, and I'm sure they'll build you one for cash.

That's hypocritical anyway you slice it. It doesn't matter if we're talking about a computer company or waiting five minutes for your fries at McDonald's. That part of the post was directed at hypocrites, not any particular company.

Since the post at hand was about Alienware, I went ahead and suggested they change credit companies because I've read various reports from people complaining about the processing time for credit applications. I don't see how that's "an assualt" on anyone. Suggestions are what help companies improve.
Is there a problem here TJ?

If you don't want to wait for a computer to be built for you, buy a Dell.

Is that really something that should make your blood pressure peak?

Hammerhead, I see few if any people complaining that they have to wait for their machine! I do see people complaining that some of the stages of the wait are not reasonable, such as payment verification and applying the payment. If you get financing from their own contracted financer, they should start preparing to build immediately. By the time they've finished "preparing to build" (verifying inventory, etc., are stages), the payment should be received and everything should be kosher. Even if it's not, they know they'll get it because the financing has been secured!

As far as I can tell, the Alienware credit card is just like any other credit card. The only difference is who accepts it for payment, Alienware. Why do people keep drawing a distinction between it and a credit card? You just can't buy a Dell with it. Although it would interesting to try...I bet American General would not care. Anyone?

Also, it is incorrect that customer paperwork needs to be filled out each time the card is used, so long as the account is active and in good standing.

I think the answer is obvious..Dell has no working agreement with them and Dell has their own credit dept that has had alot of press as of late with reguard to lawsuits filed aginst it for violations of some states "fair credit practices" acts but.....if you read the agreement you signed it does state that this will be used to purchase from Alienware Corp which is one reason why Dell could not accept it but I am sure they would arrange finance with their in house credit company...you could always use any major credit card or cash for that AW purchase and avoid some of that wait time, if the wait is such a problem

The thread title is misleading because a person reacted a little too soon. but, it is still how they felt when they started this thread. Its probably better to leave the title alone so that others can see a persons issue with Alienware. Further into the thread, the owner of this thread noted the error in judgement of Alienware. and Everything is working out good. Its a double edge sword: A complaint but a resolved issue. If the owner of the thread wants the title changed then they need to notify a moderator along with the title they would like to use. That would be nice. otherwise, its fine.

note: I replied to the email that I recieved. Thanks.

I had to wait 3 days for the payment to be processed after they said it was accepted. Nothing new and I work in credit alot so I don't mind them taking their time. Compare this to SOME companies who are having lawsuits right now because they violated state laws. Do I think a week might be a bit much? Yes. But I've also discussed a few things with some of the reps and I also understand why they have been having some quality issues with customer service and their products. Juan, please correct me if I'm wrong about this, this is just what I rep that I choose to leave nameless told me. Alienware has become exceedingly popular in a short time and the number of systems order has increased greatly, causing them to get in a bit over their heads basically. This has happened to many companies. They have to hire more employees, train them and get them on the floor. Not an easy task with such complex machines. Does this mean that any issues they have with financing or customer service is excuseable? If anyone in their management dept just said yes, then there is a bigger problem then they think. I also experienced an issue with my computer being sent in to depot for a blue screen issue that after a stupid amount of trouble shooting being repeated like 3 times they decided must be some hardware trouble. I got it back with not only the casing of the laptop having a huge scratch on it, but also the body around the hinge of the screen had been cracked. TO top that all off, THEY DIDN'T FIX IT. I got on the phone with them the same day only to have more bloody trouble shooting come up. before the next day began for me it was on its way back to depot with a promise of another 2 week wait...in total over a month without my computer that I've been working with them since nov. to get fixed. I see this as unacceptable, but I do see where the problem is coming from. It isn't right, and I hope that they do try to make it right by me. Alienware was born and raise on a reputation for awesome systems and good customer service, they are slipping and they are trying to catch up, but to keep customers I think they should due their best to make them happy again. I think everyone agrees that nothing in this business brings a company to greatness faster then happy customers.
