Video Editing and construction quality ?

Hello all,

Has anyone used Sager 8886 or 5660 to edit DV. I want to get away from my desktop and start using a Laptop for all my DV editing (Premiere 6.5). I have looked around the net and have yet to hear anyone use a Notebook (other than Mac) and be satisfied. The numbers regarding the Sager 8886 and 5660 are very impressive. What do you think...

Secondly, how tough are the Sager computers?

Some of my Pet Peeves about a notebook computers are:

Flimsy construction (notebook bows and creeks when you pick it up [like Dell]).

Cheap plastic that cracks.

mushy keyboard that is soft and flexes downward when typing.

I would like someone to describe the build quality of the Sager 8886 and 5660 because you can't just go to the computer store and look at one.

Thanks for all your help and I really enjoy all the information posted on this site.

I asked a similar question in this thread and got a few good answers. No one who reported in the thread had actually dropped the Sager. I know what you mean by cheap plastic though, this Vaio I'm on (not mine) already has some chipped parts.

I received my 5660 as a Christmas present and have just started really pushing it hard. My next thing on my to-do list is load up Premier and Ulead's Videostudio and capture some video from my Sony DV camera. The results will be added to my ongoing review in the review section.

In my opinion, the Sager is much better built than the Sony laptops. I have typed on them and picked them up and they seem to be more flimsy. I can't believe they would hold up very well. This Sager seems to be built like a tank in comparison. As time goes on I will add to the review about general condition and how it holds up.

Let me know if there is anything else you think I can answer for you.

Thanks Denkc and Dragon57,

I look forward to your review! I seem to be a physical quality freak. I truly believe that if something is well built on the outside, the same care was taken on the inside.
