So can somone please explain why dell is charging $960 for 2GB RAM when you order the machine, but only $575 if you buy it separately.

Are they really charging me $385 to install the RAM for me ????? Or are people that dumb?

DELL
1 GB Memory Module for Dell Inspiron 9300 System - PC2-4200 / 533 MHz
$287.99

thats funny, it's mainly becauses some people are scared to death of opening their lappy and installing Ram. So Dell has taken advantage of people's fears.

people in college who buy HP lappys are pretty gullible. I know someone who spend $1900 on a HP lappy that has a CELERON processor with 192 MBs of Ram a 20 GB HARD DRIVE and a ATI 7500 GRAPHIC, this laptop weighs 7 LBS has a 15" screen and gets less than 2 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE!!! This laptop was purchased less than 6 months ago... and she really thinks she got a great deal...

I honestly cannot believe some people sometimes...

But how many percent of people that buy computers have no clue what they are buying (specs) or what price is a good one. I bet 75% of computer buyers are like this.

yep, and thats my point. Thats why dell can charge so much for the Ram upgrades, because a majority of people who buy computers have no clue what there buying, so when the time comes to make their computer faster they take it to a place where a nice amount of $$$ is charged to upgrade, because those people are typically scared to death of frying their computer.
