Keeping Notebook Cold?

Weird question maybe. Is keeping a notebook extremely cold for a long period of time bad? Such as leaving it in a car in -20 weather for a couple hours.

I'd say the biggest problem would arise in powering the system on and having components have a greater swing of temperatures (-20F to 120F) than might otherwise be specified.

Also batteries typically can have issues with lower than usual temperatures.

Thanks for the info. I'll try not to keep it cold for too long then.

But if it has to, try not to turn it on immediately.

You may want to defrost it before use... bring it indoors and let it come to room temperature before serving... er.. using.

LOL...yeah I would never leave a laptop in my car or garage or anywhere that could get extremely hot or cold. I heard a laptop works best at room temperature which is around 71-73 degrees Faranheit. I just make sure that the laptop is too cold...like icicles or too hot...sweating...LOL!

Let it warm back up to room temperature before using and give it plenty of time then.
Cold causes condensation on the surface of objects which isn't good because you don't want electrical components wet.

A few friends of mine put their desktop outside in the winter with fans on it to get it down to 0*C. It fine except the hard drive stopped working.

a nice warm bath should get it ready to go!

at -20C, doesn't the LCD screen start to have problems?

Follow the above suggestions... unless you have a Panasonic Toughbook 29! They can take just about anything.
