I've only got three posts, registered last month and like both cheese and turnips.

I'm also waiting for my 5680 to ship.

drunk people on forums are funny

I can honestly say two things:

1. i have nothing better to do than check the forums.
2. i have no personal life.

People want to get uppity, as do I, but what's your excuse? I have a 5680 coming to iraq, but I have a $3300 car stereo at home too. I am physically forced to stare at a computer for at least 8 hours a day. And no, it does not have anything to do with work. If i turn my head to the left i see a green led that says operate under it. that is my job. make sure light is on. I can hear it too (the circuit that the led is in). one green led, i can stare at it, or come here and read people's bickerings.

You have nothing better to do?

oh and MCL, believe it or not, a lot of people my age (23) know that our public education sucked in high school. Think that makes us happy? NO. So maybe you should have spent less time looking at a dictionary and "Thirty Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary," and spent more time ensuring that politicians focused on education.

Oh, I believe it. I'm also a victim of the US Public school system, from kindergarten through my Bachelor's degree. I received my Master's and did myPh.D work at a private university, however.

I did my bit to ensure politicians focused on education: I voted my conscience along those lines (it wasn't for the sitting POTUS, who made big noises about "no child left behind", but what that really means is, "~50% drop-out rate in Texas, and fudged figures to meet new restrictions set on federal funding to public school systems". In short, we're busy turning the public school system into a test-taking sweatshop. Critical thinking went out the window ages ago).

I've contributed to the body of scientific knowledge regarding pedagogy and knowledge acquisition, with various scientific talks, papers, and books.

I continue to emphasize education when I vote. I urge others to vote -- not for anyone specific, just to inform themselves about the candidates and get to the polls.

Still, very few people vote, and fewer still take the time to actually learn about those for whom they cast their vote.

I've also done my time in the military (HHC, 2AD(Fwd), back when there were two Germanys, and a wall betwixt them. And no, I wasn't an officer, nor was I on cushy HQ duty; there were two combat platoons in HQ along with the MPs: 11B and 16S. I was 16S.) I both appreciate and empathize with the drudgery you face day in and day out, and can sympathize with the conditions in which you must live at the moment.

And right now, no, I have nothing better to do. I'm waiting on the finalization of a support contract for some software I use to maintain the cluster of systems we're getting ready to ship to Puerto Rico. Other than reading through the diffs for the upcoming OpenBSD 3.4 release, and familiarizing myself with the code changes to pf and the ancillary programs, and working on my new book and an article I'm writing, I've got time on my hands.

Back on-topic, Adam, do you know if you'll be allocated a similar percentage of 5680s as you were for the 8890s (100 of 150 in the first shipment)? I'm assuming the percentage is based either on order volume for the model from each reseller, past history, or both.

Yeah you've done an outstanding job contributing to the public education system considering it sounds like your milking a Pork Belly funded job for all it's worth (I'm sure there's at least a few rural school districts that could use every dime they could scrounge up). Nothing like suckering Star Trek junky fvcktards into processing noise floor data and then sending it back to you. But hey you can afford a Sager right?

Well, that was certainly called for. Asshole. Did you just register five minutes ago to spew misdirected anger? And apparently you don't know the difference between SETI and SETI@HOME.

OOOOOh... I was talking about the "wrong" Pork Belly project didn't mean to strike a nerve there. (I would be pretty pissed off if someone just ruined my favorite screen saver too.)

Actually, I don't run a screensaver. But I am running Folding@Home. Am I correct in assuming you registered on these forums for the sole purpose of being a little bitch?

Please Chill

Would everyone please chill out. I keep checking back here for VALID posts about when the 5680's will ship, and I get a bunch of useless arguing. There is an 'Off Topic' list. Please use it.

They will start shipping today, unless you ordered Bluetooth or a DVD-RW.
