Let us know how long it takes to get to you.

objectHuang, the adaptor looks like it sits recessed into the base. Does it sit recessed enough to fit the original dvd faceplate?

use external like i used to
I have an external. It is fine for backup. But with a 60gb drive, it is always nice to have it physically installed on the computer. No cables to worry about.

I play with old Gateway lappies and I've bought CMOS batteries from here.
They're expensive, but you can look and then try to find one on Ebay.
Currently in my 9200 I am running the old CD-RW from my Gateway Solo 9550, so I know it works.
The bezel sits a little further in - about 1/16th inch. It does not effect performance, and the bezel is the correct size.

Yes, I think so, but I have not tried it. I think the original dvd faceplate is a little thin in this case.

It occurs to me that this Gateway HDD sled will NOT work because the socket is different. It was the removal of the socket adapter on my Gateway CD-RW that causes it to sit so far in!
My bad; I'm sorry.

Not sure if it matters, but which BIOS are you using? A2? A3?

I should have my adapter soon and I too will post my results here.

Due to an expired card, my first payment did not make it. I updated that card and sent a new payment. A PM was sent to objectHuang. Thanks again for the help.

In Device Manager, check the advanced settings tab of the properties sheet for the secondary IDE channel (under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers) instead of the properties for the drive itself.
