cpu clock speed??????

I have a pentium M 1.7 ghz. when I go to my computer properties and check, it says 600 mhz. No, nm, I just checked it now, and it says 549 mhz. can someone help???

Maybe a function of the power-step-down features of the machine...adjust your power options to maximum performance and see if the number goes up.

Use Mobile Meter...gives instantaneous clock speed info..

Clock speed in Pentium M increases & decreases as and when required..It also helps in battery life and running the laptop cooler.

Not when it's plugged in though, right? When there's AC power, it should run at full speed all the time, since battery won't be an issue. (at least it should be logically) Is this correct?

no, my athlon 2500+ clocks up and down wheter or not it is on battery. This way, it doesn't heat up as much.
