ok am about to place a order for a 9300, ill be using a debt card and a credit card... which is the best way to go about to buy the laptop....... ordering online or by phone....and if i order online ........can i call dell right away and ask if everything went good......???

after my last post i realized i screwed up the order, wrong display! i used dell echat to cancel the order easily, then reordered online. this time it only took 30 minutes to get thru pre-production. same ship date.

I ordered my system online the morning they came out. Last Thursday.
From some reason Dell thought I was exporting the laptop and was holding my
order up in processing all weekend. I called yesterday and spent 2 1/2hrs on the phone talkin to every indian on the planet. I finally got where I wanted and last night before I went to bed the 9300 was in pre-production. Today, while at work..I checked and it went through all phases and it was testing. By the time I got home from work....it was in "boxing".

Estimated Ship Date: Thursday, April 14, 2005

But I highly doubt it's going to take that long since it's in "boxing". I anticipate a Estimated ship date change with 24-48hrs.

That is the same thing that happened to me. My original order of the Inspiron 9300 was placed Thursday morning through Dell Home and by Friday, it had already passed the testing phase. It had a shipping date of March 23. However, I found out that the SB department had a 35% off coupon and it was gonna save me 200 bux. So I cancelled my original order and now my order is stuck in the "Preproduction" phase since Saturday. I just called the SB department and they told me that there might be a backlog in the production of the new I9300, but he expects my order to ship on or before its expected ship date of March 18. As a sidenote, since I ordered via the SB department, I was able to bypass all the Indian customer reps, the guy I talked to sounded American.

Does dell usually take this long to get its laptops out? I ordered my 9300 on March 3rd and mine is still in the building stages..whats going on with dell?

I know but some people are getting ship dates like the 03/18/05 and i got a 03/24/05
can't stand the wait. It's my first laptop so please excuse my impatience..lol

2 Full days since my order was approved and billed. Still in PreProduction. Oh well, guess I'll cancel and buy a Compaq at Best Buy.
