Don't care/not in the market, but I'd love to know why Luke got punched in the face!

The remotes IR. Never heard of a programable remote working with a laptop IR.

I don't get it! What is so good about the new one? All I could see is that the remote looks better and has an external remote reciever. Please educate me if I am wrong!

I thought because the 9860 comes with a remote control (like the 8890 did) that the IR during those moments was consumer IR (not computer IR, because as you know, there is a difference). Therefore I thought someone could buy and use a different programmable remote of their choosing.

I wish Sager and other companies putting out remotes like this would take more time making them nice.

I'd like to see something like Logitech's Harmony 880 Remote come with an MCE-equipped 9860.

If an MCE 9860 would have to come with an external receiver of some sort, why can't they make it smaller? I'd rather just have a USB key of some sort. Or better yet, they should build it into the laptop itself.

IMO the external receiver sucks big time, it looks like it's almost as big as some external TV tuners! The convenience of the current TV Tuner/Remote combo which uses the laptops built-in IR port is superb. MCE compatibility would be nice but to have to use a chunky external receiver seems well... YUK to me.

Everyone's entitled to there opinion, I personally want the new tuner (I already have the MCE remote) as it integrates with Windows MCE which I already have. The current TV tuner is ok, but it doesn't have hardware MPEG-2 decoding which offers better picture quality than the current offering, which is one of the reasons Microsoft makes this a requirment....

Well for me, I love the idea of the new tuner and MCE '05, I just don't like the big external IR receiver. I wish there had been some way to have a compatible IR receiver internalized. Then it would be perfect, IMO.

Anything new on MCE2005 yet? According to Avermedia the new M105 Mini PCI card was released to OEM's a while back.
