Hi all, I'm a new member here and wondered if any of you guys could help me out with a warranty question...
I currently own a PCG-F707 and have my eye on a new A-series model, preferrably the A397xp. From retailers this will cost me around £1700 inc vat, however on ebay they can be got for around £1200 - £1300, and these are supposedly brand new in sealed box, never been switched on and therefore never registered.
My question is this: if I were to buy the laptop from an ebay member (assuming everything is legal/brand new and working as it should) would I still be eligible for the standard 12 month Sony warranty? Will sony ask where I bought the laptop from - do they care that I may have paid £600 less for it than Recommended Retail Price? Does it matter where I bought it from and the price I paid for it?
OR am I worrying about nothing..? Saving £600 is a very appealing thought!
I have tried to phone Sony today, but after phoning seperate numbers I finally got through to someone who just advised me not to buy it at that price and wanted to sell me one over the phone.
Thanks for any help guys - would really appreciate your thoughts/knowledge on this.
