Yeah, I went ahead with it. Just wanted to have the newest thing And because I had a big fat insurance check eyeing me because my S260 was stolen in Feb. Thank goodness I had renters insurance!

So, I configed it this way

-1.86ghz M
-80 Gig hdd
-Wireless but no bluetooth
-512mb ram

More than I had in my old S260. And I go that 3 year onsite plan from Sony.

I REALLY wanted to get the internal DVD burner. However, I looked more closely at it. It only burns at 2.4X! Are you kidding me? That is slow! I am just gonna save my money for an external one later on.

So, I took that $150 and upped the processor speed

I will post back when I get it on what I think of it.

Thanks man!

I really really loved my S260 and really pissed it got stolen. However, at least it gave me the chance to get a new 380.

I was really looking at getting the 360. Hell, would have been about $250 cheaper for me.

However, I mainly use my lappy for internet and office stuff and never game. So, I think it fits the bill.

My old accient lappy weighed 7.3 lbs. And I carried that $#%#@$ on the road with me for 19 straight days. I tell you when I got that S260 it was so....nice

On the brightside with a laptop that is 7lbs the chances of you leaving it at airport security are about nil. Dropping that much weight out of your suitcases....you can tell!

I ordered one too, mine shipped from San Diego Yesterday. I loaded it up, with my University Discount (8%) it totaled around $3400. s380 2.13GHZ processor, 1 gb ram, 100gb hard drive, DVD burner, wireless and bluetooth, 3 year accidental onsite repair. I opted to not get the extended life battery, I want to see what the stock can deliver before I add more weight. I selected this machine mainly for the power/weight. As far as I can tell this laptop is the lightest Sonoma with a wide Xbrite class screen available. I will review it with some standard benchmarks once I get it set up.

Sweet $#^#$ I just read the fine specs on the S380 and sony quotes 1.5 - 3 hour battery life!

Where the S360 is quoted at 2.5 - 6 hours.

I think I am going to try and cancel my order.

Could be the new chipset....

Not sure.......

But the bigger battery would hurt the mobility...

If the DVD burner size is still the 9.5mm in height then nope. I think the S380 still uses to UJ-822 and the only company that makes it is panasonic and they dont sell it retail.

I love her The size, the weight, battery life, and the screen.

Sorry I can't provide much more than that. I mainly use this laptop for just the internet. But since I spend 20 + days on the road it fits what I need and want from a laptop.

I really loved my S260 until some Ahole stole it...at least it gave me the chance to get a S360! And I got to replace my stolen Sony W1 digital cam with the black version

Maybe it is just me ... but the fan seems to be a little less pressent... need to use it some more to make sure that is true...

for the fan issue, i just leave my machine on adaptive power management. set the fan o quiet. I see ngligible delay when it kicks up to do something and it's not too loud most of the time - surfing the web etc. If you areplaying a game i would think the fan wouldn't be noticable.
