I have been looking for a notebook for quite a while since my HP desktop is getting outdated, and I want something portable for university. The first thing that came into my mind was games. I'm no CS or HL fan, but I do like to play games like Sims 2 or NFSU 2. I searched up the system requirements for these games and they came out pretty high. So I looked around, and finally found what I want, the Acer Travelmate 8100. It comes with X700 128 MB ram, 512 MB DDR2 RAM, 1.86 Ghz, and many other stuff. The price comes down to $2300 CAD not including tax. Now I have been waiting for this computer since February and there's still no stock for it yet. I also found out that my friend's Travelmate 4000 supports Sims 2, (Intel Extreme 2), but laggy. Then I started looking around other brand, namely Fujitsu and Alienware. They're very similar, but Alienware having more style. Also, it is more light weight than the Acer. My concern though is, how does the performance of the Sentia stacked up? If I'm paying $2000 CAD for a 1st generation Centrino, should I wait until a new Sentia with the 915 chipset come out? Anyone has a rough estimate of how long will that be? Thanks for your time. By all means, I'm not trying to start a flame war to see which laptop is the best.
