You can get it here:

The reason I have my taskbar at the top of the screen is because I hated having the dock at the top of the screen (w/ the taskbar at the bottom). It took awhile but I got used to using the taskbar at the top.
Where can I get instructions on how to use Avedesk? I downloaded it, but I'm lost from that point on

Info on my desktop (software - theme)

Dock: y'z dock
Window shadows: y'z shadow
Visual style: stylexp - Kamino v2
Icons: stylexp - xp-MadB1 (by MadBwana - a very talented artist on deviantART)
Toolbar: y'z toolbar - Simple things (by agent orange)
Doodads: serious samurize - weather2004 (customized)

Wallpaper made by me trying to get that 50s style in it (the picture is of finlands former president 'urho kekkonen')

Hope this is helpful to someone. All of the above take about 10mb of ram to run and a tiny bit of cpu-power - it's fine by me since I rarely run very heavy applications

edit: whoops! I just noticed that stylexp takes an extra 20 to run, so it's 30mb of ram in total. Have to buy some more ram soon.. 512mb isn't enough for my pimp setup

how much ram does windows regular setup use?

mine, currently is very similar to the default wallpaper and icons and stuff like that. can i save resources if i use those programs listed instead of what windows uses? if so, why doesnt everyone do it? this is the first time ive ever seen those docking programs and calander programs

I'm not keen on any of those dock programs. I've tried 3 different ones in the past and they are murder on the CPU, ObjectDock being the most offensive with 99% CPU...what the hell? This is especially painful when I want to use long battery life mode on my power saver and the processor drops to around 600mhz, ObjectDock is like a friggin flip book. Plus I just never found them functional, I find it easier just to double click on a windows icon which is also much faster. I always end up going back to my standard Windows themes too, I actually LIKE the Royale theme a lot. Just about all the themes I've seen on the various sites have been major eye sores with contrasting colors that wreck my eyes when I use file manager etc. Right now since I got a gig of RAM I've been playing around with Konfabulator for the weather and most importantly having a monthly calendar on the desktop. Pretty cool program. Right now I am liking that "Gas Price" widget.

Royal Inspirat version of my desktop

Dock: Objectdock Plus
Visual style: Windowblinds Royal Inspirat (Stefanka)
Icons: dock and avedesk - Elements V2 (modded by me)
Rainmeter: JL skin
Lclock
Avedesk 1.2

All this eyecandy only costs me ~25mb of ram and hardly any CPU usage. I haven't had any problems with objectdock hogging system resources, but then again, I have plenty of ram.

Dude, thats probably one of the nicest custom desktops I've seen...really clean. I love the "Start" button, nice and slick.

I actually haven't tried ObjectDock since I've upgraded my RAM and HD recently to see if those changes would affect the performance or not but I think I will stick with regular icons for now.

using coolmon to display my system stats, its just a small box of information. how do i make it look like the first post of the thread? i want it running the full height of my screen w/ larger text

Hey just out of curiosity, where do you get those object docks?
For Free docks, there's YzDock (no longer supported, but still available), AquaDock, RKLauncher, and MobyDock. Someone correct me if I left out any good free docks. I've tried them all, but in the end they are not as good as ObjectDock from Stardock. Yes, they do have a free version of ObjectDock, but the 19.95 version has "flyout menus" which that alone is worth it for me because they are immensely useful. Here is an example of flyout menus:

Hey nighthawk, i really like that set up you have for your desktop (the icons and object dock. I was wondering if you could help me set up something like that on my desktop. thanks a lot! (i have object dock plus )
what do you need help with Hibbs? The icons are Elements V2 by Pantoni but were modded by me so they aren't releasable. Flyout menus are created by right-clicking the right most edge of the dock and clicking Add Flyout Menu (for some reason flyout menus are not an option when you right click on other parts of the dock).
EDIT: This was fixed w/ version 1.11 of Objectdock

The background I used is just another OSX imitation. My internet explorer (actually firefox) and recycle bin icons came from Alienware Skin Suite. I just extracted them using Iconpackager and used them as dock icons.
