Ive heard that Yz uses less resources than ObjectDock, would you also get the 10 fps drop with objectdock as well, or more?

There are several ways to get the calendar/system monitor on the desktop. I use just the calendar and personal organizers so I got Rainlendar. Some other use Konfabulator. There are hordes of other similar software. Rainlendar uses the least resources in my experience.

if your worried about system performance in games and still want to have object dock and all that stuff running but dont want to have to close them one by one when you want to game then use bat files like on my desktop. just double click on the file and it closes anything you want instantly. then create another to start everything back up when your done.

Even with object dock I still run BF2 at 1600x1024, Highest everything settings and I still have no FPS problems.

But as stated, it all depends on your system. THe xps2 and new m170's dont have a problem with it.

Guild Wars is a great game. Here is a link to all their wallpapers. They even make them downloadable for widescreen. http://www.guildwars.com/gallery/wallpaper/default.html

Hi Dan,

I haven't tried it with Objectdock, but it's been a while since I've used ObjectDesktop. I think I'll give it a shot next time I go for the dock again

objectdock only takes 2 MB to run, but can be heavy on cpu usage.

How do I post a shot of my desktop... I mean, how do I capture the image. Also, how can I resize my 4JL Rainmeter? This thing is too small. Sorry for bein' a nOOb.

just press the print screen button then open up any graphics program and paste it. then upload it to imageshack.

for a little more clearer how to post ur desktop

Go to your Desktop, press the Print Screen button on ur keyboard, then open up a graphic program, like Paint, Corel, and other. THen Ctrl+V for pasting it.

Then save.

THen use a image hosting site, like imageshack, then click browse, find the path to where u saved ur pic, put the resolution to what you want or to ur desktop resolution.

Then once ur done that, you will see several URLS

For forum posting you needa put [ img]www.imageshack<the rest of your URL> [/ img] just like that without the spaces and type a little comment if you like and ur done

Hope this helps

Thanks,

Thanks for the help. I just had a plane jane desktop with a picture on it yesterday morning and, after visiting this site I put this together. I didn't even know any of these programs existed... freakin' cool.

I'm using the following:

Lclock clock display
Calender: Rainlendar
Meters: Rainmeter
Dock: Object Dock
Skins: Windowblind's Dreamland
Icons: Elements Icon Suite w/ Avedesk
And I put to wallpapers together from devianart.com to get what you see

wow, I get really bored at work.

Oh, and can someone help me with resizing rainmeter?
Thanks
R

And your system hates you now that you loaded all that extra weight on it.

That's why I prefer to keep things simple.

I was kind of modeling it after nighthawk7's desktop on page 7. And my system is doing just fine thank you... hell as much as I paid for it I might as well use it .

Simple and clean

Finally got around to messing with my desktop. This is actually on my desktop as I haven't decided if I want to load up objectdock on my laptop. So far, honestly, I can't say that it does all that much for me really. Other than look pretty. I plan to add a calendar and a to-do list at a minimum in the near future. I do like to keep my desktop clean but I like to maintain a certain amount of functionality, hence the large number of icons in objectdock. The start menu button I had to make myself essentially. Taking a screenshot and then cutting it out with Photoshop. But it doesn't have the full functionality of the real start button. It only links to my programs and not the actual start menu. I would like to fix that but I'm not sure how atm. Any ideas? I would have to say the one I've liked the most so far was the shot from Rgunn1. Very clean yet stylish and functional. Nice work there.

P.S. Sorry for the huge picture, haven't learned how to resize them here either.
