^^ok, ok, since you are my new best friend, and very good negotiator...for you, but for you only, so don't tell anyone, I will take $10 which you would be giving to Dell for the info...that way you won't be contributing to the rich imperialists...

Ah, but then, if it works, I'd have to spend ANOTHER $10 to get the SD BT card....effectively doubling my cost. I think it would be better to just buy it and try it myself...if it works, I saved $10, if not, I can always try to return it to Dell and get a refund (+ another coupon to make up for the one used.)

I'm a gambler...and I think I can tell if it works for you or not. I won't say how (because that'll give it away), but I can.

LOL...well, I *do* have a $25 off $150 coupon that I might not be using...depends if it stacks with the i8500 battery or not. If it doesn't, I'll PM it to you. :P

Hey, I thought of something...since the "internal" (or as close as we can get to internal on the 700m) BT using the SDIO card was my idea...so technically, shouldn't YOU give ME something for pointing you in that direction? I mean after all...I did the legwork, and even found the card on Dell's website!

So if it works...I think YOU owe ME!

"I did the legwork, and even found the card on Dell's website"...that should give you minus credit for suggesting to people to buy accessories from dell...tsk, tsk...so in real reality, you are even further behind in the owing department...moreover, since you failed to get a patent or copyright your idea, it is public domain. what's the term...oh you snooze you lose.

since i had to pay tax, i just call it even steven

I think "Intellectual Property" still applies to an idea. And I found it on the Dell website since I have that $100 Concession coupon, making the BT SDIO card less than $10 shipped from Dell - way cheaper than *any* other vendor.

So, since we're "even", and you should be getting the card tomorrow (if it didn't come today), I expect a full review of the results to be posted ASAP.

no, we're not even...the even part was you putting unsecure intellectual property out in public domain for anyone to pirate...since i have to pay tax, that is what makes us even on that account...

for me posting full review, will cost you the $10 concession

i've decided that i am going to get the BT SDIO card for free now. I've devised an amenable proposal with a certain company, which I shall not name, and they have decided to give it to me for free....i'm very persuasive...that's how i got my motorola RAZR for free...got to love freebies

Now THAT'S something I'd like to hear...I've been looking at getting the RAZR but it's still too pricey. I'll really curious to see how the BT SDIO card works in the 700m.

Oh, post the review...and I'll be sure to send you the money. Yeah, I promise I will. Sure.

well give me the concession and i will give you how i got the RAZR for free...and it's not any of those promotional fill out survey crap...you really need to get cell service through the chinese or japanese or taiwanese in LA...they will hook you up...

normally, you sign the normal contract that the cellphone provider requires anyways, plus the store's contract normally says you have to keep active service for like 3 months or your credit card will get charged the cost of the phone...but at least there, they only charge about $280 for the RAZR rather than $500. Moreover, you go through them, the will unlock your phone...i have t-mobile (better since t-mobile is one year contract), but use the RAZR which is cingular phone, but since SIM, you can use on either but cingular requires 2 yr...

what does this happen to do with notebooks? well, you can do all kinds of great things with the phone if you get the motorola software...and since the 700m has USB, i can hook it up...when i get the BT, then i won't need to carry an extra cable around, i can just synch via BT...that will be sweet...so there is more than just using the mouse that i'm looking forward to having the 700m bluetooth enabled...

i'm also looking forward to getting the iogear 800dpi BT mouse...haven't read anything on it, but it was a compulsive purchase since the BT SDIO is on the way...BTW, i did not include that portion of this arrangement...because of your public airing, i succumbed to a compulsive purchase...so really, that is another $45 that you owe

Well, I don't live in LA - I'm in Tampa Bay, FL. And no Oriental phone markets around here...but I knew about that type of deal. I thought you did something similiar to what I do (consulting), and had worked out a deal with Motorola. I have a deal with Sony Ericsson that I test hardware for them, but the last one I did is the phone I'm currently using (T616, which they sent me for free.) I haven't been able to get a response from Motorola...

Now see, you bought the BT mouse on your own. I didn't encourage that impulse buy, so you can't blame me for it. That's your fault. For that matter, I didn't encourage you to buy the BT SDIO card either! I just threw the idea out there, and you latched onto it. So I say we're even - and since you're getting yours today, I expect a full review no later than 8pm this evening!

Oh, and because I decided to wait, the auto 10% off is over at Dell...so it's now back to the "full" price of $120.52, making it $21.96 for me after my concession coupon. I think I'll wait until they offer another 10% or 15% off...
it doesn't matter, anyways, b/c the item is being shipped from LA rather than Dallas, so it won't get here until monday

Ah...that suxs. Well, I'm hoping that next Thursday they have a 10% or 15% auto discount again, so I'll wait until next week before I order anything.

He said in another 700m/BT thread that he is expecting the card today or tomorrow, and will post the results.

All the reading I've done (mostly the links laff posted) do indicate we should have success with this, provided the BT SDIO card has XP drivers (which we believe it does, but can't confirm or deny that just yet.)

I received this email from SocketCom.com this morning:

"Thank You for contacting Socket Communications, I looked at the matrix on this IBM 700m laptop and it appears that this device has a SD slot and in order for our SDIO Connection Kit to work with your device it would need to have a SDIO slot. If you have other documentation that the device has the appropriate slot please let me know.

Tammey Karp

510-744-2721"

she thought it was an IBM...I had to reply back and tell her it is a DELL.
