I never used Dlink - but I have configured both Linksys and Netgear for people and found Netgear so much easier. My friend hooked up a linksys and had range problems in his house (3 story) replaced it with a netgear and it worked great.

Both are good but personally I'd pick Dlink because I've had much better luck with Atheros chips which Dlink(and I believe Netgear) uses. I may be wrong but I believe most LinkSys use Broadcom chips which I've had issues with in the past.

Netgear and Linksys are great. I don't have much experience with D-Link.

Netgear is easier to configure but Linksys gives you more options.

I'd go with Linksys.

I think you'd probably do well with either, but I'll put in a vote for D-Link. I'm currently using a D-Link DI-524 and it works flawlessly - I get an excellent signal anywhere in my house. And you can probably get it cheaper than the Linksys (check out the rebate on newegg).

I commonly read some problems about Linksys. I don't know if that's because people normally forget to try other firmware and see the changes, but I never had a problem with a Linksys G router I have... Don't have experience with Netgear everything and only a little of D-Link wireless...

count me in for Dlink... I also use the DI-524's (three, maintained at different locations) and they work great. I think excellent range, and their CP is not hard to get through...

i have 1 linksys 3 dlink, they ALL work perfect, i had an sMC, it was a very basic router but it sucked for what i needed so i returned.

i have WRT54G (main router - linksys)
Dlink-524 (aux router)
Dlink -514 (aux router)

ive used a Dlink624 heavily since my xgf has one, i told her to get it, the 624 is by far the best router i have ever used, even has a VCT, virtual cable tester

Linksys is good as their firmware is opensource and you can add tones of 3rd party features because of it...

I prefer linksys

i have a linksys wrt54g which works really well so i would say get a linksys

I currently run a Netgear WGT624 and I couldn't be happier.

I have perfect connectivity with my Intel 2200, Dell 1450 and Senao SL-2511CD PLUS EXT2 to my AP.

I would go with D-Link if I had to choose from the above 2. I like there build and they have a great interface.

Ive had 3 Netgear routers before (exchanges) and I will probably never buy from them again. Only after a few resets of the routers ALL of them just crapped out on me and I was never able to log in again. I also had a Linksys NIC that was randomly rebooting my computer when dl'ing from mirc, found out the problem was hardware specific and solved it by replacing it with a D-Link. As for D-Link Ive never had one of their products fail on me, router or network cards so I would recommend them.

I like Linksys.

I especially like how LinkSys routers run Linux. And how their firmware is opensource. And how there are custom firmwares by people like SveaSoft that add a hell of a lot of features.

I use a D-Link 624 and it has performed very well. I have not had any problems with it, it was easy to set up, and it has a lot of different features and options that I enjoy. I, however, have never used a Linksys but a lot of people have great things to say about Linksys as well. I don't think you'll make a wrong decision here no matter what brand you get.

Get a Netgear. I have a strong connection and I'm 300 feet from the router. Of course it is the "Super-G" and it has an amplifier, but still this is pretty sweet.

Except Belkin. Their wireless products are truely poorly made. Of course it just could be crappy drivers, but it doesn't really matter WHAT makes their products suck so much. I saw some Belkin 802.11g PCI cards on sale+rebate for $15 canadian ($12 US?) so I thought, I must buy them! Even at that price it was a mistake. It took 3 hours or more with tech support to get ONE of them working on a Windows 98 machine, and I haven't even got the other working on a WinXP box yet. Oh well, it was only $30 lost after rebates (Which I did get), so it's a cheap lesson. I know better than to buy their products again.

Definitely Linksys. Check out their new compact Wireless-G router with 4 ports. www.linksys.com

seems like you're getting votes both ways...

I have the Linksys b/g with speed booster (I think it's been mentioned earlier in this thread). It's been really gerat for me. I haven't had to test it for range much since I live in a dorm, but I've had zero dropped connections and it's been on for the whole school year. The configuration was pretty easy. And I just bought a new Fujitsu S 6231 so I had to add it to my MAC address filter - got it working it 2 seconds. I also switched the setting from an 802.11b only network to a b/g mixed network. That adjustment also happened flawlessly and quickly.

Both brands are good. I'd go with the lower price.

Can't beat the dLink 524. I've only rebooted mine once in over a year, and it was my fault. Best of all, the office stores seem to have them for about $20.
