What are some common 7700 problems?

Thanks
the biggest common problem is it seems 7700 owners or wanna be owners come here and make up new threads asking questions that could be answered easly if they spent 10 minutes reading past threads. this then clutters up our beloved forum and pushes those formentioned helpfull threads furthur down and this starts the cycle over again.

Stop being a troll and be nice to newbies like me?

How old are you? Honestly, grow up and be a little bit more mature.

I didn't ask to be flamed.

you are the troll you made 2 useless post so far . and im in my 30's so i get annoyed by noobs like you who dont use your brains and search instead of cluttering up this forum. the search function works use it. then if you cant find a answer start a new topic. why dont you search my past threads and see if i posted 1 noob topic like you have? so whos the troll now? errm you.

Honestly the most common problem I see is user error. Most of hte time someone will get their machine and even before trying to figure what might be the problem they post and issue; which might not even be an issue.

The other common problem would be dead pixels.

How about you start acting like a 30 year old?

I am 42 and i know 10 year olds in primary school who are more mature than you.

Come on man, ever heard of being the nice welcoming of the elders from the forum? Obviously you hvae but you don't want to be one, as your not wise enough. Grow up man...

I was asking some questions, i didn't ask to be flamed. I did search and i couldn't find the appropriate answers which i needed.

In many ways he is correct...many of the posts such as..AW dead pixel policy, how do I get the time to display in my LCD, how do the DJ controls work and on and on are in the manual or on the AW web site so I do not see those as "problems" per say and more or an issue where many people just did not read their manual..maybe because this is not their first PC so they feel comfortable in pushing the start button and going from there...problems are some with heat issues that resolved with a lappy cooler, games not loading fully, etc etc but a search of this forum whould have shown all those threads and also the thread where many of us had few or no issues

You didn't find the answers you needed? What are your questions?...You possibly forgot to include them in your post..be more specific as to what you want to know and maybe you will obtain a more specific reply

Biggest problem for me is I don't have one...

Big up to those answering the question rather then flaming him.

Not everyone have all the answers. If you have all the answers Forsaken or whatever you call yourself. Then link him to it, this way you can stop cluttering our beloved forum as you so kindly put it.

As for potential problems with the 7700, I don't have any other then it seems like it is going to take forever to get to me. :P When it does, I hope I won't have any problems.

Cheers

I think one of the common problems that I have read about here and that I had with mine was the paint rubbing off of the palm rest. It seems that when the laptop lid is down it rubs the paint off of the palm rest. I had mine for just a little over a month and this started happening almost immediately. Other than that the only other thing that I think is common (but I wouldn't call it a problem) is the issues with low sound volume.

i haven't had any of the common problems, it runs warm but never warmer than my old pc so i'm not too concerned. 48-60c depending on load, no need for a cooler. none of the paint has rubbed off, and again, alot of the problems reported here are simple user errors. bad windows xp loads happen, bad memory, the normal stuff you can get with any pc. it's not outrageous. oh, i do have a wierd pixel, works fine for higher brighter colors, but stays faint in darker colors...cant notice it playing any game like doom3. only noticed it when watching dvd's and it's fairly ignorable. plays like a dream.

I have paint rub and the 3 middle rubber feet have fallen off. It runs great and no stuck or dead pixels. I also have the fan squeak but if you close the lid and let the laptop go into hybernation and open the lid the squeak goes away. We are hoping for a bios fix for that as it has been reported that if you have the fan replaced it will still squeak and it is a voltage issue.

Like I said, the laptop itself runs everything great and I did have to tweak it when I first got it. I had to reinstall the touchpad drivers off the bat. The harddrive needed a defrag too. Minor stuff that I would not send it back for.

loud chirping fan -

supposedly it's a known bios issue with voltage regulation though there may be a bios update under Sager 9860 threads...

a lot of people complain about the internal mic

i've had fan issues and the paint is rubbing off too. however, i talked to alienware a little while ago and they sounded like they would be willing to do touch ups on the paint... if this is true, that would be great.

I think the internal wireless-a card is a POS. it drops the connection after awhile and you have to take off WEP to get it to see my Linksys A/G router again. my Linksys PCMCIA wireless-a card works fine. that's really the only thing I have a problem with, but that's a compatibility issue between the cheap internal nic and the router I guess.

I've had my 7700 for three days. At first I was really stoked about it but now I have serious buyers remorse. First problem: I haven't found a version of Linux that'll install on it. The second problem is the squeaky fan but I discovered the suspend trick. Okay, I can live with that. The most annoying thing is the heat. This thing runs really REALLY HOT! My left forearm is scorched. Even when it's just sitting there doing noth'n it blows some serious BTU's. I don't think I can live with it.

Annoying chirping fan seems to be a popular issue. It's one of the reasons I returned my 7700.
