Common 7700 problems? - Page 3

Absolutely ecstatic with my two week old machine.

-1 bright pixel left centre area but no big deal.
-lost centre rubber foot pad; prob scraped of on cooling pad tho.
-took a while to get my sound from audigy card up to scratch but solely user error...still dealing with mic lol.
- left palm area gets a little but not unbearably hot after six hours on dnd or oblivion maxed out but hey....6 hours+...what else can u expect..my desktop used to crash after 4!

i have had a fantastic service from alienware so far and yes our relationship is young but I am both hopeful and realistic in my expectations.

Try this thread to boost internal wireless connectivity and dependablility:

Thanks, but I fixed it about a year and a half ago, lol. I guess I should have posted for these guys back when that thread started to save them some troubleshooting time.

lol, you guys solved a couple of my minor annoyances though, thanks lol!

1 The fans chirping
2 The mic being not-so-useful

The paint on my 7700 was horrible. After a few months of playing games on it I could see exactly where my left hand rested on the laptop. Only other problem was that the 7700 ran hot on the left side of the machine. But I never had a problem running games or software. It was a pretty solid system, I just expected a better paint job on it for $3900.

That's why I have an external keyboard now. I don't have a problem running anything on it, it is just kind of hot on my hand.

Glad our digging up this corpse helped you out cHRon.

I have had issues with the paint rubbing off the keyboard as well. Only because I didn't have an external keyboard until about 6 months after I purchased it. Besides that the only Issue ive had with my system has been the video card. The GeForce Go 6800 has been replaced twice now in my system. I just thank god I had a 2 year warranty. I personally think the first time it burnt out on me was because I just game 24/7 on it, it had almost a full year of extreme hard core gaming on it before it burnt out on me. Before it burnt out I did have heating issues, had one time when the fans werent working and I didn't know and it took 112C before my computer warned me about the heat and shut off. Since I have had the second card it worked flawlessly from the beggining. 3 weeks down the road I started getting a lot of lag spikes in all games. I delt with tech support for about a week straight trying to solve the issue which resulted in them just sending me a 3rd one (which I am currently waiting on). The GeForce Go 6800 is suppose to be sent to you in "One Piece"....mine wasnt. Someone had taking it apart before shipping it and applied GOBBBBS of thermal paste to the GPU. Waaayyyyy too much. I even posted a picture here on the forums of what it looked like. The tech support told me the lag spikes were because of heating issues...although I was only getting max temps of high 70's low 80's which is normal for a 7700. They insist its heating issues. I was told to update my bios which helped for about a week...then I started seeing them again. Not sure really whats wrong with it but for now I just play a little at a time cause the lag dosent start until ive spent 30 min + on a game. The new card should be here shortly and I will post how that effected my system.
