Aspire 1414

Thread Starter
Well, a friend of mine is looking at getting a Aspire 1414WLCI and was wondering if any of you have had any experiences with them? Her needs are to run office document applications and to watch DVDs on long trips. She (unfortunately) is not a gamer so she graphics make little difference to her but she wants to 15.4 in. screen for the movies.

I am pretty sure this would suite her needs and she is on a budget so that is a BIG plus as well. But I am unfamiliar with Celeron M processors and am not sure if the power will be lacking bad enough that doing the stuff I listed above would be too much for the machine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm actually looking at the exact same model. I think I can get it for $600 plus tax at my local microcenter. I would also like to know what sort of games should this be able to handle ok (unreal 04 at all so it's playable) and how it might compare to a centrino. I tested one at the store and it felt very responsive and light too (but the battery was out of it at the time).

Any advice/info on this one? The rebates expire this weekend.

We carry this model in the store I work at. I've played around with it a bit to get a feel for acer notebooks in general. It is quite solid in my opinion, I haven't checked DvD playback on it but I may just do that today so I can help you out.

You don't really need that much power to watch DVDs. Typically Pentium-M at 800MHz is enough.
