Hmmm ... I'm curious too. I plan to hook it up to my KDF-60XS955 Sony LCD TV via a DVI-to-HDMI cable..

How do you like your Sony? I'm looking at the exact same model to replace my old 57" rear projection TV.

Man I loooooveeee it!!!!!!!!! Seriously.. beautiful picture.. beautiful tv..

I had some problems with the first set... bought back in Nov 04.. because there was chrome type of cloudiness in the picture.. Sears replaced it with another set.. this one with a build date of Jan 2005.. Absolutely perfect. No problems whatsoever! So if you buy one now, you shouldn't have any problems with the newer sets. No complaints here! Upgraded from a 35" Sony I had for like 7 years.... Difference of night and day! The built-in tuner is nice... off-air HDTV broadcasts are just something to be seen... so clean and sharp!! Damn Dish Network offers barely any HDTV channels so that kinda sucks..

I did a LOT of research before buying this tv.. i mean a lot.. reading reviews.. visiting a/v forums... waiting for this set to come out... it was well worth it.

Go check it out at your local store. You won't regret it!

You can find more info here.

should be 1900x1080 HOWEVER the maximum resolution is also determined by your TV Set. MY 27 inch Samsungs max Res is a tad over 1680x920 (Odd resolution)

Good question. I'm also curious how the XPS2/9300 will work with the native 1900X1200 res of the 2405FPW.

LCD's shouldnt have the resolution restrictions that applies to TV sets. specifically the cards we have should be able to handle any consumer lcd we have out now.

Machina, DVI doesn't work the same way as VGA. Most consumer DVI ports can do SXGA (1280x1024) but have difficult at 1600x1200 and certainly will have issues doing 1920x1200. Very few can do 1920x1200 and only the +>$500 cards can do 2560x1600 (which is the res of the Apple 30"). Over 1600x1200 you will need a really good single link DVI, and to drive an Apple 30" you need a dual link DVI.

Having said that, the best laptop supported DVI resolutions are from APPLE computers. Their 15 and 17 inch have dual link DVI's that can drive the Apple 30" (remember the video card itself to do this will set you back $500 on a desktop!).

Schembfs, I'm getting a 2405 (in delivery at the moment) and if I do get the 9300 sight unseen (just worried the screen isn't as good as the Sony A 17") I'll check it out and report back.

Interlaced 1920 x 1080 requires less bandwidth than 1600 x 1200 @ 60hz. I think ATI will support 1080i natively with the right adapter.

If I remember correctly, I think it all really depends on the driver that you are using for your graphics card and the list of resolutions supported inside the driver, because powerful cards like the 6800 shouldn't really have a resolution limit.

Hmm.. wonder if the Nvidia cards support the VGA-to-Component dongle? Could always use that instead of DVI..

If your video card only has a single link DVI instead of a dual link DVI, you cannot drive a large resolution screen. What you say is right up to the limit of a single TMDS single link DVI output. After which you will need a dual link to drive larger resolutions (ie the Apple 30") screens.
